Lions are majestic apex predators found in Crimson Desert, which were hunted almost to extinction. Luckily, you can find a domesticated lion at the Laughing Marionette that’s free to take and ride across the entire region. That is, until you get bored and wish to either free it or abandon it.

Lions are one of the many legendary creatures to be found in Crimson Desert, and we’ve listed the guaranteed spawn location of one below, along with how you can tame and ride it. Unfortunately, if you’re looking to keep the lion as a permanent mount, you’ll find yourself disappointed, but this may change in the future.

How to Get a Bear Mount in Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert features bears that you can mount and ride, which are far more aggressive and grizzly than a trusty horse.

How to Ride a Lion & Get the Lion Mount in Crimson Desert

  • You can find a lion at The Laughing Marionette in Demeniss, specifically between the “M” and the second “E” of “Demeniss” on the map, which is just outside the City of Demeniss.
  • The lion is sitting down by some circus tents and being petted by NPCs, but you can ignore them and approach the lion.
  • You’ll be prompted to ride the lion with Square/X, and there’s no fuss afterwards, meaning you can simply ride it out of there without fighting it or seeing yourself wanted by the law for stealing it.
  • The lion cannot attack, but you can use your weapons from its back.
  • The lion is extremely fast, but has a low stamina pool.
  • Lions are extremely rare in the wild, and if there are any, they will only be found in the Crimson Desert region, and they’ll always be hostile.

If you’re heading to the Laughing Marionette, then the guards stationed around this entire region will be hostile until sometime after Chapter 8 in the Main Quest. As such, it might be a good idea to come back here later, especially since the lion can often despawn and won’t respawn for a few in-game weeks.

Can You Tame Lions and Keep Them As Mounts in Crimson Desert?

  • Unfortunately, the lion cannot be kept as a permanent mount. This information comes as of Patch 1.00.03.
  • Once you leave the lion, or it’s killed, you’ll have to wait for another one to respawn at the Laughing Marionette.
  • Even if you take the lion to the Stables, it cannot be stored there or registered as a mount/pet.

We’re optimistic that Pearl Abyss will change the way mounts work in Crimson Desert in a future patch or update. If Crimson Desert does add lions as permanent mounts, then we’ll update the information here to let you know if that’s the case, along with information on how to keep them.
