The spring 2026 anime season has begun, and one of the newest premieres happens to be an anime about the season itself. Several ans of fantasy anime may not yet know that Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring, has already started airing episodes. Based on a light novel series, this new series follows the lives of a group of humans who possess the godlike abilities relating to the seasons themselves. However, when tragedy strikes, the system they and their allies have been working with for so long may never be the same again.

Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring mainly revolves around Hinagiku Kayo, the current Agent of Spring. However, as she had disappeared for ten long years, her country had not had spring in ages. Along with her loyal Guard, Sakura Himedaka, Hinagiku has reutrned home at last and desires to aid her people as best as she can. In the meantime, the other Agents learn about her return, while Sakura vows to protect her friend from any danger.

A Long-Lost Goddess Returns to Her Home

In the world of Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring, the seasons themselves, desiring more freedom, decided to place their tasks upon humanity. For eons, different people have taken on the jobs of summoning each season when necessary, and are made aware at a young age of how deeply important their tasks are. Sadly, at a very young age, the current Agent of Spring, a girl named Hinagiku Kayo, is taken away from her home. She finally returns home after a decade, yet she and her longtime Guard, Sakura Himedaka, are very much haunted by the sudden tragedy. As the two rise up from their pasts, the other Agents learn of Hinagiku’s return as they deal with their own goals and struggles.

Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring is the first arc in a light novel series by Kana Akatsuki, with illustrations by Suoh. Many anime fans may already be familiar with Kana Akatsuki, as she is the original creator of the beloved light novel series Violet Evergarden. Those who have read the original light novel series, or have watched the breathtaking animated adaptation done by Kyoto Animation, know that Kana Akatsuki has a penchant for creating character-driven stories with heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. Though the series has just begun, Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring has a similar bittersweet air.

At the moment, the main place to watch new episodes of Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring is Crunchyroll. However, if one wishes to learn more about the world the Agents live in, they can completely begin the light novel series. The first two books of the Agents of the Four Seasons series make up the Dance of Spring narrative surrounding Hinagiku and her peers. However, the series does not end there, and later delves into the lives of the Agent of Autumn and the Agent of Summer. Additionally, there are novels about the Archer of Dawn and the Archer of Twilight, the people responsible for summoning the daytime and the nighttime.

If one does not wish to read the light novels, there is also a manga adaptation. Originally presented by the shojo manga magazine LaLa, the manga version of Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring is created by Nappa Komatsuda. Both the light novel series and the manga adaptation of Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring are now available in English via Yen Press. Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring Airs on Weekends

At the moment, episodes airing on Crunchyroll appear to be releasing on weekends. The first episode premiered on March 29th, on a Sunday. Meanwhile, the second episode is set to air on April 4th, a Saturday. As for the time each new episode will be available for streaming, they will likely premiere by midnight in JST, according to the series’ information on MyAnimeList.

The first episode of Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring, is already available to watch. There, viewers can get to know Hinagiku and Sakura as they make their journey back home, hoping to perform the necessary rite in order to bring back spring for the first time in a decade. However, the two soon meet a young girl determined to clean up snow on a nearby mountain, leaving the Agent and the Guard curious and concerned. The visuals brought about by Wit Studio for this first episode are absolutely gorgeous, and truly assist the simultaneously melancholy and hopeful tone.
