The First Descendant is in a bit of a dry spell at the moment, and Nexon is aware of that as well, so they have decided to reveal their plans for the game before Season 3 comes along.
It is no secret that there is nothing much going on in TFD right now. Regrettably, the player base is dwindling, and it looks like Nexon is relying on the upcoming Season 3 to fix things. Season 3 really does sound pretty cool, with the open-world sector, world bosses, vehicles, and a plethora of new features that they mentioned during the recent AMA session. But, there is still some time before Season 3 comes along, and the fans have been wondering if anything notable will happen with the game until July 2025. The devs gave an answer.
Nexon’s Plans for The First Descendant Before the Season 3 Update
Minseok Joo, one of the head honchos of Nexon and TFD, sent a “letter” to the fans, explaining what is going on with the game. He starts by stating that they are aware that the current state of the game feels a bit dry, that nothing is going on right now. That is due to the team being fully focused on Season 3. They even considered some smaller updates in the meantime, but decided against it, as that might pull the focus away from Season 3 and compromise its quality.
But that does not mean that they have “abandoned” the game until then, and have shared what to expect, and when, before Season 3 arrives.
“Here’s a closer look at what’s coming up:
- On Thursday, May 15, we’ll be adjusting the balance for Void Erosion Purge, removing penalties tied to skill attributes.
- On Thursday, May 22, we’re introducing updates including Dynamic Motion, the Arche Tuning Socket (officially named Mutant Cell), the new Void Abyss Intercept Battle: Ice Maiden, Party Finder, Core Conversion, and Inversion Reinforcement Presets. A 4-week login event is also planned during this period.
- On Thursday, June 19, we’re working on the External Component Core and a long-term login event.
- In addition, we’re working to implement a balance patch ahead of Season 3.“
And let’s not forget that on June 19, Nexon will end the support for last-gen consoles (PS4 and Xbox One).
Most of these were already known to the community, but it is still nice to hear some confirmations from the devs. And let’s not forget that they are all attending PAX East, and will have a devlive from there in just a couple of days.
