A new Pokemon Trading Card Game set is slated to debut in summer 2025, according to a recent leak. The upcoming Pokemon TCG expansion will supposedly be based on the fifth generation of pocket monsters.
The latest Pokemon TCG set is Prismatic Evolutions, which hit the store shelves in January 2025 and is currently suffering from severe shortages. Several additional Prismatic Evolutions products—including a Surprise Box, Mini Tin, Booster Bundle, and some new figures—are planned to be released between early February and mid-May 2025.

The Pokemon Company Issues Statement on Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Shortage
Following weeks’ worth of fan complaints, The Pokemon Company issues a statement on the shortages of Pokemon TCG’s Prismatic Evolutions expansion.
Come summer, The Pokemon Company will debut a new range of Pokemon TCG products, according to a recent report from PokeBeach. The upcoming set is rumored to be based on Black Bolt and White Flare, Generation 5 sets that are coming to Japan on June 6. The rumored English version of the same product lineup is said to be scheduled for a July 18 release. White Flare and Black Bolt are suspected to be references to Gen 5 legendaries Reshiram and Zekrom. Both terms were originally trademarked by The Pokemon Company back in September 2024.
New Pokemon TCG Special Set Will Reportedly Include 2 Elite Trainer Boxes
Much like Prismatic Evolutions, the upcoming lineup will be touted as a “special set,” meaning its booster packs won’t be sold individually but will exclusively be available as part of Pokemon TCG Elite Trainer Boxes, Mini Tins, and similar bundles. PokeBeach reports that the first products from the upcoming lineup will be two ETBs, likely themed around Zekrom and Reshiram.
Two Booster Bundles are also said to be coming as part of the new set on August 22. They will presumably feature different cards, not least because most Pokemon TCG sets usually stick with a single Booster Bundle, meaning it’s unlikely that this division will be purely visual. In between the purported bundles and the rumored ETBs, The Pokemon Company will reportedly release two Tech Sticker Collections and Illustration Rare Boxes on August 1.

- August 1: 2 Tech Sticker Collections and Illustration Rare Boxes

Another Pokemon TCG Set Reportedly Coming on May 30
Back in December 2024, The Pokemon Company revealed the Journey Together Pokemon TCG set, which is scheduled to hit the market on March 28. PokeBeach now reports that the first post-Journey Together set will be released on May 30. This expansion is rumored to include cards from four Pokemon TCG boxes that will first debut in Japan: Heat Wave Arena, The Glory of Team Rocket, Marnie’s Morpeko and Grimmsnarl ex, and Steven’s Beldum and Metagross ex. All four will mark the return of the so-called Owner’s Pokemon variants, which have now been renamed to Trainer’s Pokemon. Marnie and Steven’s decks will reportedly include one Illustration Rare card each.
