The developer of Marvel Rivals, NetEase Games, is seeking out new beta testers for an unconfirmed game, said to be a new open-world project. NetEase has grown into one of the biggest names in the modern gaming industry, with the China-based studio being involved in a wide variety of popular games beyond Marvel Rivals. The developer saw its roots in mobile gaming, helping to create mobile games based on several popular franchises like Diablo, Harry Potter, and Dead by Daylight, among others. However, NetEase has officially broken into the limelight with some big games under its belt.

Recent years have seen NetEase achieve worldwide success, both with its in-house projects and multiple published games. NetEase led development on the breakout hit hero shooter Marvel Rivals, becoming one of the hottest new esports shooters of 2025 following its launch in December 2024. Marvel Rivals Developer NetEase Recruiting for Confidential Beta Test

Fans have recently discovered a new recruitment drive from NetEase Games being hosted on mobile game platform TapTap. The beta test is said to be for an open-world project from NetEase, with no specific details given about the game. The test is reportedly centered heavily around the mystery game’s PC version, requiring high-end specs for players looking to test out the unannounced game. Details about the game in question are said to be locked under a non-disclosure agreement with the Marvel Rivals studio, while testers will be required to have a PC with 32 GB of RAM and at least an Intel i7 or comparable processor. Fans looking to apply for the NetEase tester position will need to act fast, however, as the recruitment drive is only running until January 6.

While NetEase has not confirmed the game for the beta test, speculation has already begun to run rampant among fans. Many have suggested that the beta test may be connected to NetEase and developer Naked Rain’s upcoming Ananta, mixing elements of GTA with anime-inspired visuals. Past trailers have shown off a wide range of movement options said to be available in the game, including an array of vehicles alongside swinging from buildings similar to Spider-Man games. NetEase and Naked Rain have not confirmed an official release date for Ananta.

NetEase’s previously-mentioned Marvel Rivals captured one of the studio’s first nominations at The Game Awards, named as a finalist for “Best Ongoing Game.” The Game Awards also saw its first Chinese finalist for Game of the Year at the 2024 show, with Black Myth: Wukong among the candidates that would eventually fall to Sony and Team Asobi’s Astro Bot. Gacha games have also been a particularly popular market for many Chinese developers, following in the footsteps of games like HoYoverse’s Genshin Impact and Kuro Games’ Wuthering Waves.

With a new beta test on the way, NetEase looks to have a busy year ahead in 2026 between its first-party and published games. Where Winds Meet recently saw the launch of its first major content update, significantly expanding the in-game map with the addition of the Roaring Sands region. Marvel Rivals will similarly kick off 2026 with one of its biggest character releases yet, with Deadpool set to officially join the roster on January 16.
