The train is what you’ll mainly use to reach new checkpoints in Dead Rails. You’ll get a free one in your starter kit, but a better train is definitely needed if you wish to run away from enemies easily. Like Classes, every train has its own perks, but most of them don’t come cheap; they ask for a lot of Bonds – an in-game currency earned, which is quite the grind to earn. How to Get Trains in Dead Rails

Once spawned in the town, beginners might feel confused about where to get a new train. The good news is that you don’t need to travel to a distant city to snag it since it’s already available in your starting town. To get a train in Dead Rails, you simply have to enter the Train Station (look next to the Classes station in the hub area) and talk to the NPC there.

You can earn Bonds by doing runs, looting banks, finishing challenges, or even raiding the castle. But if you’re still unsure how to farm Bonds fast, this guide can help you. Dead Rails Best Trains Tier List

Currently, there are only four trains in Dead Rails.

Armored Train (275)	S	This is definitely the best train so far. Firstly, because it’s bulletproof, so enemies with guns (like Outlaws) can’t hit you. Then, you also get two free weapons with 100 ammo each, which helps you stop panicking when swarms of enemies run at you. Plus, it has a roof that can block thunderstorms and sunlight, so no matter what Class you’re playing, you’ll be protected during tough challenges.
Cattle Car (225)	A	It has a big space at the back, so if you want to go for loot, it’ll probably be better than an Armored Train. The roof is also full, so no fear of thunderstrike here, as well. But since enemies can shoot at you in it for long challenges like Electric Remains, this train might not be ideal.
Default (Free Train)	C	This one is the normal train that all players use in the game, and it can help you wrap up most of the easy challenges. But it’s, of course, not recommended for multiplayer missions (even though it eats less fuel than others) since it doesn’t have a roof, and the sideways are open, too. This means lightning might kill players directly, and enemies can climb on the train to fight you.
Gold Rush (250)	D	Same as the free one. What players will find different is its golden cab. So, buying it would be a total waste of Bonds, except if you want to look like Richie Rich.
