Circana has published its next monthly sales report for video games in the US, revealing how the industry fared in terms of game and hardware sales.

On the software charts, Resident Evil Requiem remains 2026’s best-selling game overall for the year so far. However, MLB The Show 26 was the best-selling game for March 2026 specifically in the US.

Four of the top five best-selling games in March (and five of the top seven) were new releases, with MLB The Show 26 ranking No. 1, WWE 2K26 coming in third, Marathon in fourth, and Pokemon Pokopia in fifth. Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection ranked No. 7 for March.

For the year so far, Requiem remains 2026’s best-selling game. Through its first two months on sale, Requiem has already become one of the top five best-selling Resident Evil games of all time in the US.

For hardware, spending rose a massive 69% year-over-year. Switch 2 “drove the overall gain,” Circana said, and PS5 spending rose by 3% compared to March 2025.

Switch 2 was the best-selling system in the US during March 2026 for both units sold and dollars. The system is also the top console by those same metrics for 2026 so far, with PS5 ranking second by units sold and dollars.

The Switch 2 continues to pace ahead of the Switch 1, with unit sales of the Switch 2 pacing 12% ahead of the OG Switch through each console’s first 10 months in the US market.

Through its first nine months on the market, the Switch 2 is pacing 45% ahead of the original Switch in terms of sales in the US.

2026 is the year that GTA 6 releases, and it’s expected to sell better than any other game in the year. But it doesn’t release until November 19, 2026.
