Every Pokémon collector has a grail card that’s so rare, they know they’ll never realistically own it. For Jolina Gisèle, there is no such Pokémon card. She has them all, in every variation you can think of. She’s got every type of pack, blister, and slab imaginable — all unopened. You know those cards that top the most valuable lists that are worth millions? Yeah, she’s probably got more than one of all of them.
By scope alone, the Jolina Gisèle Pokémon card collection defies belief. She calls it the largest and most valuable Pokémon card collection to ever exist. Unless some multi-millionaire suddenly comes out of the woodwork and reveals that they own, like, three copies of every rare pocket monster card, Gisèle is probably right. Her collection is certainly bigger than the one that belongs to the Guinness World Record holders.
It would take hours to list every card in the collection, but one anecdote captures its absurdity succinctly. Only a few dozen Pikachu Illustrator cards, which were given out as a prize for a contest, exist in the wild. In 2026, one of these Pikachu Illustrator cards sold for $16.4 million. Not only does Gisèle own two of these coveted cards, she also has the distinction of being the first person to ever certify them. In a video, Gisèle claims that one of her Illustrator cards was in such pristine condition that the examiners declined to take it out of its case. They were afraid they might ruin it.
That’s just one type of Pokémon card in a collection that spans over 60,000 items. Yes, she owns the base set shadowless Charizard card that everyone wants — in every possible language. Those university Magikarp cards that some fans count themselves lucky to ever see in person? Oh, she’s got a whole case of ’em. A video of rapid-fire highlights from the collection is nearly 10 minutes long, and it’s only a small fraction of the overall set.
This is a Pokémon card collection so vast, onlookers don’t necessarily feel awe or envy at it. Instead, much of the reaction to the Jolina Gisèle collection has been judgment and disbelief. At what point does fandom go from appreciation and turn into something more like greed? Also, is the most impressive Pokémon card collection to ever exist truly owned by a young woman who looks like a model?
“I look into your eyes, and I see the void staring back at me,” one YouTube commenter wrote in the video showcasing the collection. “Something seems fishy with the backstory,” another wrote in the same video. The sentiment reoccurs in nearly all social media posts about the collection.
If the Jolina Gisèle collection draws doubters, it’s because the hobby has never seen anything like this. The collection was revealed in April 2026 via an elaborate PR rollout that included a hype trailer. An expert was hired to show off the collection in a YouTube video, and there’s a website for the collection that looks like an advertisement for a luxury brand. The collection also comes with a tidy, heartfelt narrative.
According to the only interview with Gisèle available online, she claims that it all harks back to when she was a young, introverted schoolgirl. She had trouble connecting with her peers, so she turned to Pokémon cards. Smitten with the hobby and being only a child, Gisèle claims that she begged her father to get her every single Pokémon card ever. As the story goes, her dad smiled and told her it probably wasn’t possible. Yet, he spent years afterward apparently trying to make her dream come true.
That’s one version of the origin story. There’s a slightly different one on the collection’s website, which states that Gisèle began collecting Pokémon cards because it allowed her to bond with her nerdy father, who loved things like outer space and dinosaurs. But this variant of the narrative still ends with Gisèle asking her dad to buy her every card in the world.
Possibly, both stories are true to an extent. It’s still hard to blame the skeptics when it seems like Gisèle popped up out of nowhere. During my research, I couldn’t find mention of her anywhere on the internet that wasn’t connected to the recent rollout of the collection. But it’s also not uncommon for the wealthy to keep a small social media footprint, if they have one at all. Another aspect muddying the reception here is that there is a model who helped promote the collection: Kevin Lutolf, a Swedish actor who appears in many official photographs of the collection.
Thomas Kovacs, the expert who can be seen in some of the promo for the collection, has vouched for Gisèle and her family publicly. “I get why it might seem unbelievable from the outside, but in person it’s on another level,” Kovacs wrote on Reddit, in a discussion where people questioned Jolina’s story. “Honestly, I’ve never seen anything like it and probably never will again.”
Polygon attempted to speak with Jolina Gisèle, but a representative from her team said that she was being inundated with media requests. The people working with Gisèle offered to answer questions as best they could in her stead. During our conversation, the reps clarified that the collection belongs to the Gisèle family as a whole, and that Jolina only owns a portion of it. But the family evidently considers Jolina central to the collection’s identity, so she’s become its namesake. The reps declined to identify Jolina’s father, only stating that he is the CEO of a software company.
“In general, we take these reactions calmly,” a rep told Polygon over email. “In today’s environment, especially with social media and artificial intelligence, skepticism and critical voices are not unusual. At the same time, any form of attention helps to ensure that as many people as possible become aware of the collection.”
Another key reason people don’t quite trust the nature of the collection comes down to its value. Jolina and her family insist that the collection, which took many years to amass, is special to them. And yet, the family also is not shy about the possibility of selling it. In both interviews and the collection’s website, the Gisèle estate clarifies that they would never sell any part of the collection piecemeal. But if there’s a party interested in purchasing the entire thing, then a conversation isn’t out of the question. The willingness to entertain offers has thus made everything surrounding it look like an elaborate advertisement for the collection, not just a case of a fan showing off something dear to them.
According to the collection’s website, the family feels no urgency in selling the collection. A Gisèle rep tells Polygon that some parties have expressed interest, and the family is currently weighing its options. The family has not designated specific conditions for its sale, like keeping the collection together, though they hope a buyer will keep it intact. At least some potential buyers say they’d like to turn the collection into a museum.
Despite its incredible nature and historical significance, Gisèle’s reps claim that this is not merely a matter of sentimental value. As of this writing, the collection is being held in an undisclosed location with its own dedicated security detail. The guards don’t know what they are protecting, and few outside the family know what the vault contains. The reps did not share any figures for the upkeep of the collection, but it can’t be cheap. Insuring rare items typically requires paying a percentage of the overall value on a yearly basis. Individual cards in the Jolina Gisèle collection are worth millions of dollars.
“The collection has reached a dimension where many aspects need to be managed,” the rep said. “At the beginning, we would never have expected the collection to develop to this extent. Over time, it became clear that factors such as security, insurance, and ongoing costs play an increasingly important role.
“In this context, it is only natural to consider how the collection should be handled in the long term. A potential sale is therefore not a short-term decision, but part of these considerations.”
