“… And a Gun Range!” The DSS Is Down, and the Helldivers 2 Community Has a Huge Wishlist for Arrowhead

It finally happened! Helldivers finally managed to destroy the DSS. Well, technically, the Illuminate did, but the players played a huge role in this fiasco. According to some Helldivers 2 players, the DSS being destroyed is actually a ploy by the devs to rework it, naturally, players issued a sizeable wishlist.

What Happened to the Democracy Space Station?

As you know, it took players months to help with the construction of the Democracy Space Station. However, once it was fully operational, the players weren’t impressed at all. Thus, over the last six months or so, many Helldivers suggested undemocratic ways of destroying the DSS, like sending it into the Gloom.

After the first Illuminate invasion, the DSS went offline, and the devs reworked it. Even though the fixes helped, the players were still unimpressed. Well, we’ll see what the devs have in store for the future, as the DSS is down, yet again.

The second Illuminate invasion began on May 13. Soon after, J.O.E.L warned the Helldivers not to bring the DSS to the Illuminate front, as it would most likely get damaged. Of course, the players voted for the DSS to be sent to Pilen V… and it was all but destroyed.

The in-game broadcast noted: “The DSS was immediately engaged upon arrival at Pilen V, taking direct and severe damage. The crew managed to conduct a successful emergency warp to Claorell before the station was destroyed. Many valiant crew were sacrificed. Repairs are underway; it is unclear when the station will be returned to operational status”.

Helldivers 2 Players Have an Extensive Wishlist for the DSS

Obviously, many players believe the developers planned this all along. With rumors of another update on May 20, and leaks of gameplay on Super Earth, the community has quite high expectations. Naturally, the players want to see the DSS reworked and have plenty of requests.

One of the biggest asks is a gun range. Now that the long-awaited weapon customization is finally available, the players have been insisting on a place where they could test out the weapons. Also, many suspect that the missing service technician might be the one to run the gun range.

Another popular request is a social hub, where players could gather, although this one might be a bit harder to achieve. It would be cool to see various Helldivers just chilling between the missions!

Of course, the community asked for plenty of upgrades, as well. One player, URZthane, listed: “Additional tactical actions are desperately needed. Rework Eagle Storm to not target Helldivers. FIX AND CLARIFY WHAT ORBITAL BLOCKADE DOES IN THE IN-GAME DESCRIPTION. Rework the voting page to include ALL CURRENT MO PLANETS AND ADJACENT SUPPLY LINE PLANETS. Introduce Stratagem augmentation. Additional DSS passive effects like the EXO buff added over time”.

Furthermore, the players hope there won’t be a “fix the DSS” storyline, but it would be fixed rather fast. Since the DSS was sent to Claorell, where the Deep Mantle Forge complex is located, the players would love to see some cool upgrades.

Unfortunately, at the time of writing this article, there is no ETA for the DSS fixes, so we all have to be a bit more patient. In the meantime, you’ll find us testing out the new Warbond (the drip is amazing) on Pilen V for the Major Order. Will you join us? For Liberty and Super Earth.
