One Piece: 7 Things Sanji Can Do That Zoro Can’t

In the world of One Piece, there are certain things that Sanji can do that Zoro just plain can’t.

He is not only the crew’s cook, but he’s also one of its strongest combatants and a stealthy spy who has saved them on multiple occasions. As a result of his particular set of skills and characteristics, there are many things that only Sanji can do and that all the other Straw Hats can’t. These are several noteworthy examples that perfectly reflect his character and his relationship with the rest of the crew.

1

Cooking Nutritious Meals For Everybody Every Day

He’s One Of The Most Talented Chefs In The Entire Series

As the crew’s cook, Sanji is usually in charge of cooking meals and snacks for everyone else. However, he’s not the only Straw Hat with this skill, since Nami and Usopp can also be seen preparing decent-looking foods on a few occasions in which Sanji wasn’t around, but they can’t even compare to his incredible level of culinary expertise.

After all, Sanji has been working as a chef for most of his life, and during the two-year time skip, he learned the art of Attack Cuisine in the Kamabakka Kingdom, which allows him to cook flavorful and nutritious meals that strengthen the human body. Nobody else in the crew can cook as well as he, not to mention that he does it daily without any issue. On top of all that, he constantly has to deal with Monkey D. Luffy’s inhumane levels of hunger, which would be enough to terrify any unsuspecting chef.

2

Fighting Without Using His Hands

His Self-Restriction Has Resulted In A Unique Fighting Style

Sanji’s mentor and father figure, Zeff, taught him something crucial: he should always try to fight without using his hands, because they are a chef’s most important tools, and thus, they should never get damaged. As a result of this professional self-restriction, Sanji has mastered Black Leg Style, an efficient and powerful fighting style that he uses to unleash powerful kicks at his enemies, without utilizing his hands at all.

Curiously enough, this particular skill is unique to Sanji, seeing as everyone else in the Straw Hat Pirates needs to use their hands in combat. Luffy prefers to punch people with his Devil Fruit powers, Zoro and Brook wield swords, Nami uses her Clima-Tact, Usopp uses his slingshots, Jinbe uses Fish-Man Karate, and so on.

3

Withstanding Powerful Attacks (Without Haki)

His Genetic Enhancements Have Given Him A Significant Advantage

After reluctantly wearing his Germa 66 Raid Suit during the Wano Country Arc, Sanji awakened the genetic enhancements that had been resting inside of him for many years. Thanks to them, his body received a major upgrade in the form of an exoskeleton that helps him withstand incredibly strong attacks and even heal some injuries in just a few seconds.

One Piece: 8 Most Important Story Arcs For Sanji, Ranked

Sanji has grown a lot as a character in One Piece, but it was these story arcs that really pushed the Straw Hat cook to develop and mature.

Sanji’s brand-new levels of endurance were perfectly displayed when he took a powerful sword slash from Queen, stood perfectly still after all of his bones were broken, snapped them all back into place, and kept fighting without any real issues. On top of that, he also took a lot of direct hits from S-Shark in the Egghead Arc, and his body resisted them all. While some of the other Straw Hats have great levels of durability as well, like Zoro or Franky, they pale in comparison to Sanji’s excellent exoskeleton.

4

Turning Himself Invisible

He Finally Achieved His Lifelong Dream (Sort Of…)

Since he was a kid, Sanji had dreamt of eating the Suke Suke no Mi to turn himself invisible and spy on women while they bathe. While this is one of his controversial, perverted jokes, he at least got to fulfill his lifelong dream during the Wano Country Arc. When he first wore his Germa 66 Raid Suit, he found out that his personalized superpower was the ability to turn invisible.

While Sanji was already the stealthiest person in the crew, his new invisibility powers took it to a whole new level, seeing as he was even able to infiltrate Onigashima and go past Kaido, King, and Queen without being noticed. He later decided to destroy his Raid Suit, but after awakening his genetic enhancements, he realized that he could move so incredibly quickly that it almost looked like he could turn invisible on command.

5

Walking In The Air

He’s The Only One In The Crew Who Has Mastered This Rokushiki Technique

While some of the Straw Hat Pirates have an ability that lets them fight while airborne, like jumping very high or using gas propulsion, only Sanji can stay in the air for long amounts of time and engage in aerial battles while he’s there. This is because he’s the only one in the crew who has learned and mastered Geppo, one of the six main Rokushiki techniques.

By combining Geppo with his potent kicks, Sanji can basically walk and run in the air to chase after enemies or fight aerial opponents. This ability gives him incredible levels of maneuverability and, when he combines it with his invisibility powers and his stealth skills, it allows him to infiltrate even more areas without being detected.

6

Reconstructing Faces With His Kicks

He’s An Unofficial Plastic Surgeon

Needless to say, Sanji is a man of many talents, since he can cook, fight, romance women, etc. But there’s a particular ability in his skill set that he doesn’t use very often, and yet is really impressive and unique. It turns out that his kicks are so incredibly strong that they can even disfigure his target’s faces but, instead of leaving them as an ugly mess of bumps and bruises, he often leaves them with a beautiful reconstructed face.

Sanji from One Piece has proven himself to be an incredibly fashionable character; here are the best outfits he has worn.

This is definitely Sanji’s most underappreciated running gag (mainly because he only did it twice), but it is still a fascinating skill that nobody else in the Straw Hat Pirates can replicate. He first reconstructed Wanze’s face by accident in the Water 7 Arc, but he immediately reversed it the moment he defeated him. However, Sanji eventually used facial reconstruction on purpose at the beginning of the Sabaody Archipelago Arc, when he overhauled Duval’s face, so nobody would confuse him with the illustration on his Wanted poster anymore.

7

Sensing Women In Danger

His Most Controversial Character Trait Has Resulted In A Useful Ability

There’s one thing that Sanji most likely loves more than cooking, and it’s women. While he often acts chivalrous and flirtatious around them, he can often get very perverted and annoying as well, a character trait that can be quite polarizing among One Piece fans, especially after the time skip. However, his immense love for women has led to the creation of a weird and distinctive ability he likes to call Lady Radar.

With this, he can sense whenever a woman nearby is in danger and pinpoint their exact location. His Lady Radar has been quite useful in many different story arcs, like when he found Nami in Little Garden, Tashigi in Punk Hazard, Hiyori in Wano, etc. It’s important to clarify that this is something he has been able to do since very early on in the series, and it seems like it has nothing to do with his Observation Haki.
