As you probably know, all the way back in March, Capcom issued a roadmap. The players learned there would be a collab between Monster Hunter Wilds and another Capcom title sometime near the end of May. The developers have finally dropped a hint about what they are working on, and the players are quite unsatisfied. It seems that the first-ever collaboration will be with Street Fighter.
Capcom Drops Hints About the Upcoming Collab
On May 19, the developers teased the collaboration on the official Monster Hunter X page. They posted an image and noted: “Get a load of THESE claws!”.

Now, anyone who has ever played Street Fighter understood the reference. Naturally, the players connected the dots: the end of May is near, a collab was in the works, so the collab would be with Street Fighter. This was further confirmed by the following post. The devs stated: “Here comes a new… Challenger?”. Alongside, they posted a picture of a Seikret chick plushie with… red eyes.

Monster Hunter Wilds Players Don’t Really Want a Street Fighter Collab
Immediately after the Capcom devs posted these collab teases, Monster Hunter Wilds players had a strong reaction. Players were disappointed, and they weren’t shy about sharing their feelings.
Raiju_Lorakatse noted: “I mean… I actually like SF6 but I still find street fighter pretty damn unfitting as a collab. Oh great, are we getting to run around as Ryu again? Honestly… Kinda boring imo but eh… Guess there’s gonna be someone who likes it”.
Paxinaura stated: “Disappointing, I was hoping it to be Dragon’s Dogma and their variety of monsters”. Another player, Dycoth, added: “It’s a shame, really. Like, imagine importing a fu**ing Griffin in MH”.
The community called this collab predictable and “seen before”. Something like Dragon’s Dogma or Onimusha could have worked better. However, this is the first collaboration, so it’s possible that the devs wanted to play it safe. Also, even though there have already been two hints, nothing is official just yet. There is a (very small) possibility that the devs are dropping false hints, so the players would be surprised once they reveal the real collaboration.
Either way, this collaboration is just a stepping stone! We’re sure the devs have big plans for the future. In the meantime, don’t forget to finish up the Challenge Quest and last week’s Event Quests, as the new Event Quests start soon. Happy hunting.
