Helldivers had quite an exciting week! Player numbers skyrocketed as the devs dropped the Heart of Democracy update and the battle for Super Earth began. The SEAF troops and all the amazing details won over Helldivers. When the devs announced a livestream and Q&A, Helldivers 2 players knew their week would get even better. So, what did the devs reveal?
Helldivers Noticed an Intriguing Change During the Live Q&A
Mitch Ayre (miitchimus, the CM) and Vendela Bolin (the Level Designer) sat down to chat and play a couple of missions on Super Earth. As always, they were joined by Catherine Baskin, AKA Baskinator (the CM), who acted as a mod. They didn’t make any huge revelations, but eagle-eyed players spotted something big almost immediately.
As you know, it’s been a while since the devs dropped some new ship modules. Tier 5 modules dropped in July 2024. The players have been begging for some more ever since. Well, the devs might be working on them.
Just before they started their mission, Ayre and Bolin were on the Super Destroyer. Players noticed there were quite a few banners there. This could indicate the devs are working either on new modules, or on ship customization.
In the image below, you can see banners pretty much everywhere in the top picture. That’s a screenshot from the devs’ livestream. We took the image below moments before we added it to this article.

The banners are even more noticeable in the picture below. The top and the bottom left pictures are from the livestream, while we made the one on the bottom right in-game. As you may see, the difference is quite obvious.

Naturally, Helldivers were quite excited to see these changes. As some speculated those could be a part of Tier 6 upgrades, others hoped for ship customization. One player, doscervezas2017, mused: “
Maybe not Tier 6 upgrades, but interior ship customization? The ability to use samples to buy flags (that match your player card) or other decorations would be really cool, kind of like the Weapon Customization uses Requisition slips”.
What Else Did the Players Learn From the Q&A?
Well, not much, to be honest. It was lovely to see the Helldivers 2 developers enjoying the game while doing the Q&A. But they masterfully dodged any and all big questions. They’d say something along the lines of “I don’t know” or “We can’t reveal that” and carry on. Don’t get us wrong – that’s completely fine, but we understand why some players felt the Q&A was a bit underwhelming.
However, we did learn that the devs paid attention to details, and Bolin noted she would love to return to and refresh some of the older missions. As the game evolves, it’s important for the missions to evolve as well. Also, don’t expect to see any wildlife or Dark Fluid backpacks anytime soon.
Overall, the devs revealed almost nothing at all, but it was still fun to see them play and share their creative process. By the looks of it, we have a lot to look forward to! In the meantime, dear Helldiver, let’s concentrate on the problem at hand. Super Earth will fall if we don’t do something. So, join us there as soon as you can. For Liberty and Super Earth.
