For those choosing to globally reset their account, ARC Raiders now displays a new countdown timer, essentially revealing when the next Expedition will be leaving Speranza. Many extraction shooters like Escape From Tarkov utilize progression wipes to level the playing field and restart all players fresh periodically. However, unlike other extraction shooters, ARC Raiders handles things a bit differently, providing players with an option to reset their progression without making it mandatory for everyone.
After ARC Raiders initially delayed its first Expedition, the time has finally arrived for players to reset their progression if they were able to complete the project. While the player will essentially reset their account, Embark is offering both permanent and temporary benefits for choosing to do so, including a new Patchwork Raider outfit, a janitor hat for scrappy, more stash space, bonus skill points, and more. As players continue to debate the value of resetting their account in general, ARC Raiders now has a new timer that gives everyone a good idea of when the second Expedition will be departing.
ARC Raiders Player Gets Tired of PvP and Joins Forces with the ARCs
Tired and disillusioned with being part of PvP lobbies, an ARC Raiders player decides to mix things up by joining the mechanical ARC enemies.
ARC Raiders Second Expedition Departure Date
Thankfully, the Expedition mechanic is optional and allows ARC Raiders players to keep their project progress. So for those who don’t quite make the departure window, they can instead continue working towards the next one. For those players who were able to use ARC Raiders‘ Expedition mechanic, a new timer has appeared in their menu along with the ability to immediately start building their second project. Along with working through all the phases again, the countdown is set to end around February 22, which means players have around 2 months to prepare for the second departure window.
Interestingly enough, PC players have also found another way to manipulate the game into giving up some of its secrets. By changing the system date, the game’s internal calendar can be tricked, and some currently hidden details can be gleaned, including the future second Expedition date in late February. In fact, this same method was used to also discover the Toxic Swamp map condition coming to ARC Raiders, likely during the second season.
Starting the game from scratch can feel pretty daunting, especially for those players who have upgraded their workstations, fully upgraded their character, and completed the game’s currently available quests. In addition to the bonuses acquired, not everything is lost when taking part in the voluntary progression wipes in ARC Raiders, as players will retain their cosmetics, codex entries, creds, Raider Tokens, alongside leaderboard and Raider Deck progress.
While Embark attempted to be pretty upfront with what would and wouldn’t be retained after an Expedition, one thing that was supposed to remain for players was their workbenches. Unfortunately, it seems some wires may have been crossed as players who have undertaken the progression wipe have noticed that their workbenches have also been reset with only the starting bench being available. Naturally, this has left ARC Raiders players upset and frustrated, since the unlocked crafting stations originally appeared to have been retained. However, some have pointed out that “Workshop” was listed under the Reset category, though there is a bit of confusion or a potential miscommunication as under the “Retained” side of the list was Unlocked Workshop Stations before being quietly removed.
Considering that Embark now seems to be on holiday break, it’s unknown if there will be an official update from the studio regarding the change. For now, players should be aware that going on an expedition appears to reset their workshop fully as well, which may push some fans away from undertaking the upcoming second Expedition in February.
