The Dragon Ball Super manga has been on hiatus since last year, when Toyotarou released Dragon Ball Super Chapter 104. As it stands, the manga is currently 24 volumes long, and while Toyotarou teased the series’ return earlier this year, there’s no telling when the Black Frieza Saga will begin in earnest. While fans wait for Dragon Ball Super Chapter 105, the Official Dragon Ball Site has opened new poll for its “Super Cover Gallery.”
In Japan, every copy of the Dragon Ball Super manga includes an alternate cover underneath the tankōbon’s dust jacket. These alternate covers are always remixes of the original cover, drawn by Toyotarou. Notably, the alternate versions of the Dragon Ball Super manga covers often ditch Goku in favor of spotlighting other characters. More than anyone else, Vegeta has the most alternate covers to his name, solidifying his role as Dragon Ball‘s co-lead.

Vegeta Takes Goku’s Spotlight in Rare Alternate Covers For the Dragon Ball Super Manga
Vegeta Shines as Dragon Ball Super’s Real Main Character
Vegeta already feels like he’s Dragon Ball Super‘s real main character. He fights more often than Goku, gets more character development, and has a deeper and more personal connection to each Saga’s storyline. Dragon Ball Super Volumes 1, 9, 11, and 14 all replace Goku with Vegeta, to highlight the Prince of All Saiyan’s growing prominence. In Dragon Ball Super Volume 1, Vegeta can be seen riding Porunga in a callback to the original Dragon Ball‘s first volume where Goku rode Shenron.
Dragon Ball Super Volume 9 replaces Ultra Instinct Goku to feature Super Saiyan Blue Evolved Vegeta battling Jiren instead. Dragon Ball Super Volume 11 moves Vegeta from the background to front and center, where he can be seen eating a delicious burger in casual wear. Dragon Ball Super Volume 14 was the last volume to put Vegeta on the cover, depicting him in a Galactic Patrol uniform as he looks down on Planet Yardrat to train for his final fight with Moro.

The winner will receive a brand new alternate cover drawn by Toyotarou. The poll officially opened on May 9, 2026, and will close on May 31, 2026 at 11:59pm JST. Dragon Ball fans can vote once every day to guarantee that their favorite set of volumes ends up winning the My Favorite Cover Poll.
Last year’s My Favorite Cover Poll focused on the original 42 volumes from Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball manga. The winners were Dragon Ball Volumes 42, 1, and 27. Volume 42 features Goku waving goodbye to the read, Volume 1 has Goku riding Shenron, and Volume 27 puts amazing artwork of Frieza, Super Saiyan Goku, and Piccolo front and center.
