  • Sword of Milos has high bleed build-up for dealing with tough enemies effectively.

Elden Ring Nightreign: Tips for Solo Players

Elden Ring Nightreign presents its own challenge to solo players. Here are a few tips and tricks to help players looking to tackle the game alone.

In Elden Ring Nightreign, all the stat requirements are gone, letting any class wield any weapon at any time, provided they are of a high enough level. Ranging from iconic swords from the original game to deadly blades that slice through even the toughest of foes, the greatswords available are all truly amazing, but some outshine others when it comes to overall slaying potential.

Wylder’s Greatsword

Simple But Gets The Job Done

Nightreign Wylder's Greatsword in Elden Ring Nightreign

Notes

  • Wylder’s starter weapon
  • Can be buffed with relics

Just because it’s the starter weapon does not mean it doesn’t have its uses. Wylder’s Greatsword is a pretty decent weapon overall, letting players begin their run on a powerful class without too much trouble in the early game. Like many of the other weapons out there, it can be upgraded to epic rarity (legendary if the forge is used) and can pack a punch against some of the toughest enemies in the game.

The reason it has a lot more power than other armaments is because of the relics. Players can set up their build in the Roundtable Hold to specifically target the Nightlord’s weakness, without ever setting foot in Limveld. It can be an incredibly powerful tool to immediately have the perfect weapon for the job and to have that guarantee from the get-go, allowing players to focus on other areas of their run and still have enough damage to make it through.

Sword Of Milos

Maximum Serration For Maximum Bleed

Nightreign Sword Of Milos in Elden Ring Nightreign

Notes

  • High bleed build-up
  • Debuff skill for nearby enemies

Bleed has long been one of the most effective ways of dealing with high HP targets in Elden Ring, and that sentiment carries over to Nightreign as well. The large health pools of each Nightlord can be troublesome to get through, so having a reliable source of damage that brings burst and percentage damage is a great way to secure a victory.

Sword of Milos has one of the highest bleed build-ups in the greatsword class and brings with it a debuff effect that helps take care of specific enemies that would otherwise sustain through the damage thanks to their resistances. It doesn’t have the highest physical damage output available, but the bleed can be invaluable, especially for a Wylder player who wants to make the most of the weapon class.

Gargoyle’s Black Blade

A Strong Weapon No Matter The Opponent

Nightreign Gargolye's Black Blade in Elden Ring Nightreign

Notes

  • High holy damage
  • Long-ranged skill effect

Gargoyle’s Black Blade is an excellent weapon to pick up and use throughout a run, as having a blade that is effective against the undead can be a huge boon to those looking to take on the various reanimated foes that are scattered across the map. There are also plenty of bosses that suffer from a holy weakness, making it a good choice for fighting any and all foes, dead or alive.

Elden Ring Nightreign: 8 Best Things To Do On Day 2

Day two is arguably the most critical part of Elden Ring Nightreign. Here’s what players should be doing in this important period.

Another thing that makes the weapon so effective is the skill. Being able to launch ranged attacks that deal significant amounts of damage means that targets die faster, and players can move onto the next camp in a matter of moments. The raw damage isn’t the highest in the class, but when used in the right situation, it can pack quite the punch.

5

Helphen’s Steeple

Blending Magic And Melee To Perfection

Nightreign Helphen's Steeple in Elden Ring Nightreign

Notes

  • Magic damage
  • Area swing attack that adds frost

Helphen’s Steeple is one of those weapons that doesn’t do anything particularly special, but it is a great option for anyone looking for a weapon to carry them through the nights without much trouble at all. The damage numbers are pretty high, even when factoring in the magic damage split, which means that, no matter the level and no matter the day, it will always pack a punch.

The main strength comes from the active skill that brings with it a magic and frosty steroid that turns every swing into a brutal attack that takes serious chunks out of elite enemy health pools and does just fine against Nightlords. It doesn’t do anything spectacular, but it still brings a level of power that any player would be happy to wield.

4

Dark Moon Greatsword

Just As Chilling As Ever

Nightreign Dark moon greatsword in Elden Ring Nightreign

Notes

  • Magic and frost damage
  • Reduces enemy magic damage negation

It wouldn’t be a FromSoftware game without the Moonlight Greatsword, and the weapon is just as powerful as it was all those years ago. The power of the sword comes from the multiple damage sources that the weapon provides. With frost for damage boosting, magic damage to avoid physical resistances, and a ranged attack to deal with those annoying snipers, it proves to be a jack of all trades that brings so much to the table.

The downside is that each individual hit isn’t going to be anything special, as the raw stats alone are fairly low when compared to other weapons in the class. But the utility from the frostbite, combined with the magic damage potential, makes it a hugely powerful weapon that has very little competition right at the top.

3

Marais Executioner’s Sword

A Sword From A Familiar Foe

Nightreign Marais Executioner's Sword in Elden Ring Nightreign

Notes

  • Magic damage
  • Damage buff passive from enemy kills

The Marais Executioner’s Sword will look pretty familiar to players who have fought through a few runs or even those who have traveled across the base game. The sword of the Bell Bearing Hunter brings with it a hefty kick and a super cool passive that buffs the user’s damage output just by killing enemies.

On top of this, the active skill is an incredibly powerful one that tears through anything that gets in the way with a devastating spinning attack, sending out a blade and returning with nothing left standing. It’s a great skill that works throughout a run and can be a valuable tool when taking on a Nightlord, especially when the player gets the opportunity to really charge the attack.

2

Golden Order Greatsword

Built-In Cleanse With A Holy Vengeance

Nightreign Golden Order Greatsword in Elden Ring Nightreign

Notes

  • High Holy damage
  • Status effect cleanse

The Golden Order Greatsword is near the top of the class for a reason, coming with some incredibly powerful effects that help deal with the troublesome statuses, as well as hordes of foes, without ever having to switch weapons. Plenty of the Nightlords bring with them an annoying status effect that can quickly chunk through players’ HP pools if not dealt with quickly.

But this weapon comes with a cleanse on the charged attack, letting players stay in the fight for longer, even when the consumables run dry. Also, with an ridiculously high holy damage output, undead enemies become mincemeat, and when used against specific Lords, it can be one of the best tools for taking them out without any resistance.

1

Blasphemous Blade

Gruesome Destruction All Over Again

Nightreign Blasphemous Blade in Elden Ring Nightreign

Notes

  • Fire-based damage
  • Health restoration on enemy kills

The Blasphemous Blade was, for many people, their go-to armament for an Elden Ring playthrough. Essentially, it’s a flaming sword of death that writhes with every swing and brings with it some serious fire damage that never fails to disappoint. Everything about it is the same as that of the base game, and in a faster, more intense scenario, the strengths get to shine even brighter.

The health restoration passive is back and just as strong as before, letting players heal up during a fight to stop them from slowing down for a quick drink. And the flaming active returns, bringing a borderline overpowered AoE option for dealing with crowds both up close and from afar. It’s super fun and super powerful and never fails to deliver.
