What If the People We Love Could Just… Change for the Better. Paralives Lets Your Parafolk Do Exactly That.

As you might have noticed in Paralives, Parafolk go through different emotions and needs throughout the day. They also have their own life goals compared to their siblings or other family members, and they form relationships in their own way. All of this comes from the personality traits set during character creation, like Vibes, Talents, and Social Perks.

The good news is you can evolve your character’s personality into something more rewarding later in the game, helping them become more talented, skilled, and better at managing their lives. For those wondering, here’s how to level up your Parafolk’s personality in Paralives.

How to Upgrade Personality in Paralives

To level up your Parafolk’s personality traits in Paralives, you need to collect Personality Experience Points, which you get by doing these tasks:

  • Fulfill daily wants
  • Wrap up long-term life goals.

Each successful achievement gives you x1 Personality Point, which goes into a progression pool.

At first, you need 30 of these experience points to level up once (meaning you have to complete a total of 30 wants and life goals).

Once you reach that, a big “Personality Level Up” notification pops up, just like other skill upgrades.

Next, players can:

  • Go to the profile icon
  • Select the Level Up button
  • Choose which aspect of a character’s aura, Social Perk, or Talent to improve

At each level, one part of a Parafolk’s personality can be leveled up. For example, if Fitness is your main talent, upgrade options may include:

  • No Sweat (Hygiene needs do not decrease while exercising)
  • Happy Exerciser (+2 Happy while exercising)
  • Sweating It Out! (Each hour of exercise has a 33% chance to remove a random negative emotional reaction below level 3)

Players can only pick one of the given choices. Once done, they can grind for the next level and unlock a different trait.

How to Get and Complete Wants in Paralives

Unlike real life, the game treats Parafolk wants as temporary wishes or tasks that must be completed before the day ends. Otherwise, they reset, except for pinned ones.

To get new wants in Paralives, select emotion cards marked with a reaction icon (exclamation symbol), then choose one of the available wishes for the day.

Players can have up to four wants at a time. Once a Para feels the urge for something, simply perform the required task to fulfill it. This can include increasing dance skills, watching TV for two hours, or interacting or flirting with someone.

Your townies also receive long-term objectives that can be ticked off at any time, unlike wants, which are short-lived. Life goals are mainly given through the storyteller system. Every morning, your Para is presented with three Story Cards (or packs that may also offer stat boosts in areas such as work and relationships).

This may include a Life Goals Pack, which randomly pops up. When selected, the Para obtains a set of new goal options to work toward, such as owning a big house or starting a family.

After you’ve picked one, you can just hop into the Goals section (and pin it if you wish to), then continue completing its related tasks. More precisely, one life goal can include multiple smaller tasks that keep the player engaged. For example, a life goal related to owning a big house may include two challenges: buying 40,000 Paradimes worth of houses and 1,000 Paradimes worth of decorative items.
