“Getting Real Tired…” Helldivers 2 Community Has Had Enough of the Face the Wall Memes

You can’t have too much of a good thing, or, can you? Sometimes something that was extremely funny in the beginning can become obnoxious in time. According to some Helldivers 2 players that is exactly what happened to the Face the Wall meme. Once beloved, this meme became some players’ worst nightmare.

What Is the Face the Wall Meme?

For those of you in the unknown, this meme has been an internet staple for a while. It’s been fairly popular among Helldivers since the game was released. However, back in October, when the Truth Enforcers Warbond dropped, the new emote made this meme spread through the community like wildfire.

Ever since then, the Helldivers 2 community, especially on Reddit, has been overflowing with numerous renditions of the Face the wall meme. Whenever someone suggests something vaguely undemocratic, tens, if not hundreds, of players will tell them to Face the wall.

Now, sure, the meme was funny in the beginning. And it can still be funny nowadays, in certain situations. However, due to it being incredibly overused, often in the wrong context, some players can’t stand it anymore. We’ve seen it happen over and over again, some great suggestions, ideas, and concepts get overlooked because immature community members spam the post.

One player, Altruistic-Feed-4604, noted: “Overexposure, and the fact that a lot of people apparently don’t get the “situational” part of these kinds of situational jokes. The “Face the Wall” meme and its variants can hardly be called comedic masterpieces. Their humouristic value derives from being used in a specific situation and context, not from being inherently funny by default”.

Blind-Ouroboros added: “This is an internet norm. People will take a joke and run it into the ground so hard that it bores out a new Mariana trench. Ironic regurgitating of memes and quips ad nauseum has become our culture”.

Now, we know that spamming can be fun sometimes, but more often than not it’s just annoying. And, sure, with the right timing and in the right context, this meme can be hilarious. However, if you are a fan of it, try not to overuse it, as it turns out – you can have too much of a good thing.

Instead of spreading memes, we suggest you spread some Managed Democracy. The new Major Order just dropped, and those botdivers were right, the Jet Brigade might return. So, meet us on Lesath, let’s spill some oil. For Liberty and Super Earth.
