Struggling With The Third Sin Bosses in Blasphemous 2? Read This Guide

Bosses in Blasphemous 2 can be considered quite challenging even for Soulslike veterans. These encounters feature unique movesets that often take multiple attempts to learn and adapt to, eventually allowing players to overcome them and progress further through the story.

The Third Sin DLC adds a handful of new bosses to the game, one of which will definitely put even experienced players to the test. The guide below goes into detail on all the bosses and provides tips on avoiding their attacks and defeating them in Blasphemous 2.

Blasphemous 2: Best Rosary Beads, Ranked

There are 27 unique Rosary Beads to find in Blasphemous 2, so let’s go over which ones are actually worth collecting as soon as possible.

How to Beat Darbon in Blasphemous 2

Darbon is one of the easier bosses in the game and one that many players will likely defeat within their first few attempts. The boss does not have a particularly large health pool, and, considering most players reaching the DLC have already completed the main game and upgraded their weapons, bringing down his health bar should not be too difficult.

During the first phase, Darbon relies on a relatively small set of attacks. One of the most common is a charging attack where he rushes across the arena like a bull. He usually performs this attack from a distance, giving you enough time to double jump and dash over him to safety.

Another attack involves him spinning his hammer while moving forward. Similar to the charge attack, the safest way to avoid it is by jumping and dashing over him.

If you stay close to Darbon, he may use a hammer slam. Dashing through him will avoid the initial hit, but be careful because he can immediately follow up by slamming the hammer in the opposite direction.

The remainder of the first phase largely consists of these attacks repeated in different combinations. Continue punishing his openings until his health drops below half.

Once the second phase begins, Darbon’s hammer becomes engulfed in flames, and many of his attacks gain additional damage. Fortunately, the moveset itself remains mostly unchanged.

The charge attack, hammer spin, and slam combos all return, but mistakes become much more punishing due to the fire damage. Continue using the same strategy as before and focus on avoiding unnecessary risks.

After defeating Darbon, you’ll be able to continue exploring the DLC’s new regions. You’ll also encounter mini-boss versions of him later on, some of which must be defeated to progress through certain areas.

The Penitent One deciding which weapon to wield Blasphemous 2

Blasphemous 2: Every Weapon, Ranked

There are three weapons available for players to use in Blasphemous 2. Those curious about what the best one is can find out here.

How to Beat Crescencia, Duchess of the Sleeping Visage in Blasphemous 2

Crescencia, Duchess of the Sleeping Visage, serves as the final boss of The Third Sin DLC and is easily one of the hardest encounters in the entire game.

Before you can even challenge her, you’ll need to interact with all of the marked statues throughout the DLC areas and obtain the ring required to access her boss room.

It is also highly recommended that you upgrade the Embrujo weapon before entering this fight. The weapon is practically mandatory since several grapple points appear throughout the encounter and are required for avoiding specific mechanics.

Phase 1

As soon as the fight begins, Crescencia typically moves to the far right side of the arena before performing a piercing thrust that covers nearly the entire room.

To avoid this attack, simply perform a single jump. While double jumping along with a dash also works, I would strongly recommend getting used to a single jump instead.

Later in the fight, she begins chaining this attack multiple times in quick succession, and using a double jump often leaves you airborne for too long, causing you to get clipped by the follow-up attacks.

One of her most common follow-ups is an overhead slash that covers a huge area above her. Since the attack reaches high into the air, jumping is not an option. Instead, dash through her on the ground to avoid taking damage.

A good rule throughout the entire fight is to never attack Crescencia more than once while she’s on the ground. Most of her attacks have very small recovery windows, making greed one of the easiest ways to lose health.

The first truly dangerous attack occurs when she flies into the air, usually near the center of the room, and sends her weapon spinning around the arena.

The spinning sword actively follows your position and deals damage on contact. During the early part of the fight, this attack is manageable, but later she begins combining it with other attacks, making it considerably more dangerous.

Whenever the sword is active, focus primarily on creating distance and monitoring Crescencia’s next move rather than trying to deal damage.

After losing roughly 15% to 20% of her health, Crescencia ignites the floor and summons two grapple points. At this stage, you must remain airborne using Embrujo while avoiding both the flames below and the spinning sword pursuing you. Although you’ll occasionally have opportunities to strike the boss while going through the hooks, survival should be your primary concern.

Even if it feels tempting to squeeze in extra attacks, avoiding damage is far more important. There will be plenty of safer opportunities later in the encounter.

Phase 2

Once Crescencia loses approximately 25% to 30% of her health, she transitions into the second phase. The transition begins with a large arena-wide explosion. As soon as she flies upward, dash away to avoid the blast.

This is followed by multiple smaller circular explosions that spread across the arena. These are generally easy to avoid unless you’re standing directly in the center of one. From this point onward, Crescencia begins adding new attacks to her rotation.

One of the most common involves summoning giant flaming swords from either the sides of the arena or the ceiling. These swords travel in straight lines and are relatively easy to dodge, often providing enough downtime to land a few hits.

As her health continues dropping, Crescencia enhances her piercing attack and begins using it twice in succession. This is why learning to avoid it with a single jump during Phase 1 is so important.

Another dangerous attack involves two giant flaming swords appearing on opposite sides of the arena and slowly moving toward the center. While these swords close in, Crescencia simultaneously sends her spinning weapon after you. Once the spinning sword disappears, be prepared for an immediate piercing attack, as she frequently chains the two together.

When her health reaches the final quarter, the fight becomes significantly more aggressive. Crescencia now performs the piercing attack three times in rapid succession and can still follow it with an overhead slash.

The fight ultimately comes down to learning the timing of each attack and only taking safe opportunities to retaliate. Whenever Crescencia moves into the air and isn’t immediately threatening you, use those openings to land several hits before backing away.

Defeating Crescencia rewards you with the Third Sin skin and marks the completion of the DLC’s main storyline.
