With the preorder date announcement right around the corner, GTA 6 hype is about to hit a fever pitch. Almost all major game releases got out of the way of this neon-colored avalanche, and fans continue to hoover up every morsel of information available to them.
Now, it seems we entered the season of peak silkposting, as fans exhaustively examined every little detail of the cover art—including the number of teeth in the alligator’s mouth. What they found may not shock you, but it sure shocked many people on the game’s subreddit.
Newsflash: the alligator on the cover doesn’t have as many teeth as it should, as far as its real-life counterparts are concerned. At a mere 60 compared to the fact-checked 74-80, it’s such a disheveled specimen that its mere presence on the box art heralds doom for the long-awaited sixth mainline entry in the crime sandbox series.
Grand theft braincell, more like.
Or, to put it another way, fans are pissing about on Reddit and having a good time as we desperately wait for more actual GTA 6 news. We’ve got all the memes, from “Unplayable. This is just going to be another cyberpunk release then” to variations on the game now having to be delayed to 2030 or beyond, calling this discovery one of the “best unemployed moments,” the unwanted impact of console optimization, and don’t even get me started on the AI fact-checking operations.
“Was this a mistake or could it potentially have a meaning?” asks the poster, and the state of gaming discourse in 2026 means I can’t be sure whether they mean it or not. It would be the molARG of a lifetime if this were how Rockstar hid something juicy about GTA 6.
Otherwise, you could call it… wait for it… teething problems.
I’ll see myself out.
