Nintendo is opening a new restaurant later in 2026, during the autumn. The new restaurant will feature theming and decorations based on classic Nintendo series like Metroid and The Legend of Zelda.
Over the years, a number of eateries themed upon Nintendo have been opened. To name just a few instances, a recurring Kirby-themed cafe has appeared in Japan several times, and a cafe called Hatena Burger is offered at the Nintendo Museum in Japan. With apparent popularity with fans, a new option is arriving in the near future.

Nintendo Is Opening a New Restaurant
Nintendo has officially announced that it is opening a new restaurant called Super Family Restaurant at the Nintendo Museum in Uji, Japan. The title is a play upon the original Japanese name of the SNES, the Super Family Computer, or Super Famicom. Aside from revealing the name and logo and that it will be opening in the autumn, a few images have been shared of the inside of the restaurant. So far, most of it looks like a standard sit-down eatery, but some notable Nintendo theming is present in the form of a bust of Samus’ Power Suit, a Master Sword replica, and what looks to be a life-sized statue of Link from Breath of the Wild. The official Nintendo Museum account announced that a variety of menus will be offered, which will include both food and desserts.

Fans of Nintendo who intend to visit the museum before the Super Family Restaurant opens aren’t completely out of luck, as the aforementioned Hatena Burger cafe is located there, and currently open. Though the menu is likely more limited than what will eventually be offered at the Super Family Restaurant, the location does offer similar themeing, particularly based upon the Mario franchise, with some Animal Crossing and Zelda decorations also included. No announcement has been made regarding its closure, so presumably, the cafe and upcoming restaurant will co-exist.
Originally announced back in 2021, the Nintendo Museum opened to the public in 2024. It’s a unique look at Nintendo’s life, as the museum showcases interactive experiences, workshops, and a look into the history of Nintendo going all the way back to the time before the company produced video games. The museum is located on the same site as a plant that Nintendo owned, where it once manufactured trading cards and repaired its products, so those who are interested in the long history of Nintendo will have a lot to enjoy there, whether they visit the cafe, restaurant, or skip the two eateries entirely.
For those who can’t make it all the way to Japan to visit, there are still some good options for Nintendo-themed food and restaurants in the US that are open year-round: Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Epic Universe Orlando. In addition to theme park attractions based on Super Mario Bros., fans can visit the Toadstool Cafe or Power Up Cafe for food and snacks based on the series. Super Nintendo World is also available at Universal Studios Japan.
