All Animals in Solarpunk and Where to Find Them

All Animals in Solarpunk and Where to Find Them

In Solarpunk, farming animals is a core game mechanic essential for game progression and is tied to unlocking new Airship Upgrades through Tradebot trades. And since the only way to reach sky islands that are farther away is to expand the travel circle by upgrading the Airship, there is no way players can avoid farming.

Luckily, the process of finding animals in the world, bringing them back to your base, setting up a farm for them, and caring for their needs is fairly simple once you get past the initial hurdles and understand what needs to be done. This guide covers the exact locations of where players can find all farm animals in Solarpunk, how to transport them back to their base, and how to set up animal farms once they’re there. Here’s the breakdown.

How to Get and Use Transport Drones in Solarpunk

In Solarpunk, Transport Drones are used to transport stacks of ore mined by a Drill from any location on the map back to your base.

All Animal Locations in Solarpunk

There are three types of farm animals in Solarpunk: chickens, pigs, and sheep. Players can find three of each type of animal spread out across the map on different sky islands. In total, there are 9 hand-placed animals in the game.

Animals roam and have no fixed location on the island. Because of this, it is impossible to pinpoint their exact location within an island; you have to explore a bit to find them. Fortunately, they’re relatively easy to spot because they don’t remain stationary and like to keep moving.

How to Transport Animals in Solarpunk

Before farming animals in Solarpunk, you’ll first need to find them in the game world and bring them back to your base. To do this, you’ll need to research “Animal Transport” at the Energy Workbench Tier 2 (requires Blueprint). Once you do this, you’ll unlock two items that can be crafted at an Energy Crafting Table:

  • Animal Receiving Station: Place this in your base, or wherever you want to start a farm, and it will receive animals sent over by the transportation device.
  • Animal Transportation Device: Equip this and interact with animals you want to send back to the Receiving Station.

Using this, you’ll be able to gather all the animals in the world in a single location, or multiple locations if you want.

How to Farm Animals in Solarpunk

To farm animals, you’ll first need to research the Animal Basics Pack at a Tier 6 Research Table. This unlocks the Chicken Coop, the Feeding Trough, the Water Trough, and the Feed Bag recipes, all of which can be made at a Crafting Table.

Farming animals involves caring for their needs, and all animals have the exact same needs: food, water, and shelter.

  • Food: Place a Feeding Trough near an animal’s location and fill it up with a Feed Bag, and the animal will automatically eat its fill over time.
  • Water: Place a Water Trough near an animal’s location and fill it up with water using a Watering Can, and it will automatically drink when it is thirsty.
  • Shelter: Place an animal shelter where you want to start a farm and lure the animal to it to register it to that location (more details below).

Each animal type has a different type of shelter it requires, the recipe for which can be unlocked at the Research Table. The following table shows the details.

When an animal’s food, water, and shelter needs are met for an extended period of time, it will occasionally give you farming-exclusive items. You can pick these up in the basket attached to the shelter assigned to the animal.

All three of these items are needed for some crucial Tradebot trades that you are required to complete in order to unlock new Airship Upgrades and expand the area where you can travel in the game world.
