The Legend of Zelda has been on a roll over the last decade, starting with the debut of Tears of the Kingdom through the release of the second LEGO Ocarina of Time set earlier this year. For a franchise that likes to take its time between releases, or at least it used to, it feels like you can’t go a few months without some new Zelda thing popping up. 2026 has been no different, with plenty of reasons for Zelda fans to be excited. But arguably the biggest The Legend of Zelda releases of this year are still on the way.
Legend of Zelda Gets the Remake Treatment on Switch 2
Without question, one of the biggest releases of the year is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake. Rumored for a few months now, the remake was officially revealed during the June Nintendo Direct with a very minimalistic trailer. We didn’t get to see any gameplay, UI elements, or really get a true sense of the art style beyond a brief look at child Link in his Kokiri Forest home. Presumably, there is more to be shown of the game, and fans shouldn’t have to wait too long, as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is targeting a 2026 release date.
While plenty of 2026 games are avoiding Grand Theft Auto 6, and overcrowding the month of September in the process, The Legend of Zelda: OoT Remake feels like the type of game that could stake its own claim on November. Of course, there’s always the possibility that the game will be delayed – the release window without any gameplay is confusing – but right now, it should be counted among the most anticipated games left to release in 2026.
In addition to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, Nintendo also has at least one other Zelda release set for later this year. This one might not have the same whizz-bang appeal that a remake of one of the greatest video games of all time does, but there are plenty of fans who will be lining up to pick up this other release.

Mineru’s Construct Gets the Nintendo Amiibo Treatment
In September, Nintendo will release the Mineru’s Construct Amiibo, which Tears of the Kingdom fans will know as one of the best Zonai creations within that game. Nintendo was smart about saving the Construct for somewhat later in the game – depending on how you played – but it was a genuine highlight whenever you unlocked it. However, because of how cool and surprising Mineru’s Construct is, it makes sense why Nintendo didn’t want to release the Amiibo around the time of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s launch. Now that plenty of time has passed, the Amiibo can get its time to shine.
Zelda fans got to spend more time with Mineru and learn some of her backstory as part of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, the Dynasty Warriors-style hack-and-slash spin-off that released last year. And if they pick up the Mineru’s Construct Amiibo, they will unlock special items in Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, or Age of Imprisonment.
While a new release for The Legend of Zelda used to be a once-in-a-generation event, Nintendo has locked into a release cadence that keeps the franchise regularly in fans’ minds, similar to Pokemon. We get side stories, spin-offs, remakes, and branded merchandise, while the main team works on the follow-up to Tears of the Kingdom, which is said to be another departure for the franchise.

There have been some great moments as of late, but 2026 may be one of the best years for The Legend of Zelda in recent memory, even if there isn’t a mainline release. The Ocarina of Time LEGO set is a more affordable offering with some really fantastic minifigs, that Mineru’s Construct Amiibo is the right kind of unique pull that Nintendo loves to do with its figures, and the Ocarina of Time Remake is a fantastic conclusion to The Legend of Zelda’s 40th anniversary year.
But it doesn’t stop there. Next year will see the release of The Legend of Zelda live action movie, which has been a long time coming. And there is at least one other LEGO Zelda set rumored to be in the works.
