Halo: Campaign Evolved is a faithful remake of the original 2001 shooter, but with a few added changes, including three brand new levels. One of the new additions is skulls. The original game didn’t have them, and the Xbox 360 remaster had some, but this version has a whopping 39 Skulls to find–three per level. There are also three additional Skulls that are unlocked when you gain access to the Campaign Remix mode. This unlocks after finding three of the hidden Skulls, so if you’re following this guide you’ll get those rather quickly.
This guide is in campaign order, with the three prequel missions at the end.
This guide is a work in progress.
The Pillar of Autumn
Speed Limit
Immediately upon starting the level in the cryo chamber room, head to the back left of the room where there are a couple of barrels. Jump on top of the barrels, jump up to the catwalk, and walk to the other end to find the Speed Limit Skull.
Speed Limit disables sprint.

Magnified

In the weapons locker room on the way to the bridge, prior to getting a weapon, the Skull is resting on top of the first set of lockers in the center of the room.
Magnified changes the magazine size to 60 rounds.
Perspective

After receiving a Magnum on the ship’s deck, you will be placed in a hallway leaving the area. Turn around, and head back onto the deck towards Keyes. Underneath the two pilot seats at the front of the ship, you can find the Skull.
Magnified changes the AR to 60-round magazines.
Halo
Give & Take

During the three marine lifeboats section, in the main area between the three sections with the river, follow the river until it leads into a cave. In the center, near large rocks, the Skull is on a rock next to the river.
Give & Take makes it so firing your weapon drains your shield, but damaging enemies recharges it.

Floor is Lava

During the section where you defend three marine lifeboats in different areas, this Skull can be found in the area with the large rock formation overlooking where the pod landed. From the center grassy hill, there is a smaller rock formation below it, looking towards the pod. Jump down, and collect the Skull.
Floor is Lava makes it so you take continuous damage whenever touching the “ground.”

Grunt Funeral

At the marine lifeboat area with the underground section near a cliff edge, get onto the main metallic spire, climb up the side of it, throw a grenade, and do a 180 to jump over to the next part of the spire, where the Skull is.
Grunt Funeral causes Grunts to explode upon death.

The Truth and Reconciliation
Iron

Near the grav lift leading into the ship, on the far end near the cliff, look for a small white light on the ground. Walk up to the cliff edge and look down to see the Skull resting on the cliff.
Iron makes it so when anyone dies in co-op you return to the last checkpoint, and when playing solo the level restarts.

Endurance Spec

In the ship while opening the door for the marines, you’ll enter a room on the second floor, with two Wraiths on the ground level. Head to the far corner of the upper walkway and use a purple box to jump to the three pillars, with the Skull resting on the third one. If you fall, there is a pathway back up via the door in the back corner of the room.
Endurance Spec makes UNSC vehicles invincible.

Foreign

Upon entering the large hangar bay on the first floor, run to the back right corner where there is a locked door. Wait for the door to open when some enemies come out, rush inside, and you can find the Skull on the ground.
Foreign makes it so you can’t use non-UNSC weapons.

The Silent Cartographer
Bandana

After driving the Warthog to the first interior section of the level, you’ll approach the building from its side. Instead of going in, go past to find a small cave just past the building. Head to the end of the cave to find the Skull on the ground.
Bandana provides infinite ammo and grenades.

Acrophobia

After fighting the Hunters in the small above-ground arena, climb up the side of the structure in the middle to find the Skull at the top.
Acrophobia allows you to fly when holding the jump button.

Hip Fire

In the main structure towards the end of the level, where you determine where the control room is located, the Skull is in the winding ramp section, about one-and-a-half floors above the bottom. Get to the top of this ramp structure; you can look down the center to see the Skull resting on a small shelf-like area, above the bottom floor. Drop down and grab the Skull.
Hip Fire disables ADS and zoom on all weapons.

Assault on the Control Room
IWHBYD

In the Scorpion section early in the level, you’ll go into an underground section that emerges into an open-air place with two thin bridges. Cross the bridge and head towards the snow bank to the left. There is a small hole in the snow bank; use the Scorpion to jump off of it to reach it, where the Skull is.
IWHBYD makes it so random, sometimes funny, lines of dialogue happen more frequently.

Angry

After the tank section, you will approach a door with three metal archways outside. On the one closest to the canyon walls, the Skull is resting on top.
Angry makes enemies fire their weapons faster and more frequently.

Cowbell

After the Banshee bridge area, you will need to go into the large facility where the control room is. Head down to ground level, and run up the center metal ramp, starting from where the Wraith is located on the ground. You will need either a vehicle to jump off of or to do a grenade jump to get up to the ramp. At the top, you can find a stack of stones under the bridge, with the Skull resting on them.
Cowbell reduces the mass of objects, making them more easily displaced.

343 Guilty Spark
Fog

During the opening forest section, you’ll reach a long log you have to cross. Turn around and walk up the rocks. The Skull is sitting up top.
Fog disables the motion tracker.

That’s Just… Wrong

After entering the structure and fighting through some Covenant, you’ll find a marine screaming that you won’t turn him into “one of those things.” You need to kill him, which will drop the Skull.
That’s Just… Wrong increases enemy awareness of you.

They Come Back

At the end of the level, you’ll lead the Marines to the evac point. You’ll see a large metal structure with Sentinels outside fighting Flood. Don’t head towards that, and instead head right when facing it. Continue until you find a thin log lying horizontally between some rocks. Jump up, cross the log, and find the Skull on the rock.
They Come Back makes it so Flood enemies reanimated by the Flood are more powerful.

The Library
Tilt

Early into the labyrinth sequence, you’ll emerge from a tunnel to see Sentinels fighting the Flood for the first time in the level. After emerging from the door, the objective marker will point left. Run up the ramp to the right from when you exited to find the Skull at the top.
Tilt increases positive and negative damage multipliers (plasma will do even more damage against shields, but also even less damage against health).

Pop

After the first elevator ride down, you’ll need to progress forward by one of the two hallways leading in the same direction. Those hallways converge to the door that you must defend while Guilty Spark gets it open. Do a 180 spin from the door, and you will see the Skull up on a center pedestal. Go up the ramp to the side, and jump across the platforms to reach it.
Pop causes Flood to explode when shot in their weak point.

Famine

After entering the fourth floor (where you get the chapter title), there will be a small hallway directly in front of you. Go in and take the first left to find the Skull on the ground.
Famine halves the ammo of weapons dropped by enemies.

Two Betrayals
Tough Luck

After exiting the control room at the start of the level, you’ll be prompted to grab a Banshee and fly up to a platform. Using the Banshee, fly to the top of the control room structure, where the blue beam is coming out. Carefully exit the Banshee on the platform next to the beam to grab the Skull.
Tough Luck makes it so enemies always go berserk, constantly dive out of the way, and rarely run away from a fight.

Black Eye

After riding the elevators down on the way to the second generator, you’ll emerge into the canyon with three metal arches in front of you. Head across the arch to find a small dead end made of Flood biomass. In the little dead end, the Skull is located on the ground.
Black Eye makes it so your shields only recharge when you melee enemies.

Mythic

On your way to blow up the second conduit, you will need to use a Banshee to fly upwards to the next landing pad. There is a middle tower in the center, and another landing pad on the opposite side of the canyon. Land on the middle section, use the terminal to unlock the door opposite your objective, fly over, and enter. This next section is linear; you will have to fight through three rooms of enemies. The first is Elites and Fuel Rod Grunts, the second has Shield Elite Flood, and the last has the big Hunter Flood enemies. You have to clear each room completely to unlock the next one, and the Skull won’t appear in the center of the final room until all enemies are dead.
Mythic increases enemy health.

Keyes
Blind

In the first vehicle bay after reentering the ship, there will be a hallway on the far end of the room with a Wraith stuck in it. Push your way through the weapon boxes to get to the other end of the hallway; the Skull is in the corner by the door.
Blind disables the HUD and makes equipped weapons not appear.

Piñata

After getting the codes from Keyes, you need to continuously melee his body until the Skull falls out. The Skull may not actually leave his body, but you’ll get the on-screen prompt to pick it up. You may need to crouch or reposition so your melees actually connect.
Piñata causes enemies to drop grenades when punched.

The Maw
Stowed Reload

After reaching the bridge, you’ll need to head to engineering. On the way there, you’ll enter the cryo room from the start of the game. In the left back corner of the room, where there is a large fire, the Skull is on a small platform in the corner. Jump from the broken walkway and grab the Skull.
Stowed Reload continuously reloads your stowed weapon.

Boom

In the engine room where you have to blow up four vents, head to the right side of the room when you enter and head to the second floor. There is a small platform that allows you to jump to a corridor above it. Instead, drop down to the small ledge beneath the platform, where the Skull is tucked in the corner.
Boom doubles the radius of every explosion.

Thunderstorm

Early in the warthog run, you will enter a winding tunnel, with small shortcut tunnels in it. The second shortcut tunnel has the Skull in the center of it.
Thunderstorm upgrades the rank of most enemies.

Boarding Action
Malfunction

After climbing up through the opening section of the level, you’ll come up a ramp into an area with two white and gold Hunters. After defeating them, don’t follow Johnson and instead head to a ramp across from where you entered. Continue following the path through the unlocked doors until you reach a skinny bridge, where the Skull can be found.
Malfunction removes a random element of your HUD upon respawn.

Johnny Ammo

After entering a large arena room with sand in it, you’ll have to fight a bunch of covenant before heading up a ramp to continue climbing. On the second level, head back towards the direction you entered from to go back to the previous room, but on the third floor. There will be several strong Elites; clear them and find the Skull on the curved ledge near the tree.
Johnny Ammo makes it so, when reloading, you discard any remaining ammo in your current magazine.

Leadhead

After moving through the bio labs, you’ll enter a small room with a vertical lift in the center. After clearing a few waves of enemies, you’ll be prompted to head up the lift. Instead, head through the open door to the left of the lift to find the Skull at the end of the hallway.
Leadhead makes it so headshots no longer deal extra damage or give instant kills.

The Most Dangerous Game
Recession

After linking up with marines in an early part of the level, you’ll enter an area with a long purple bridge with a wraith at the far end of it. On the opposite end from the Wraith, there is a large door with two braziers above it, with explosive barrels on each side. Blow up both, by any means, and the door will open with the Skull in the center of the room.
Recession makes every shot double the normal amount of ammo.

Ghost

After crossing a large purple bridge where banshees attack, you’ll enter a small cave with a large door leading into an arena where you fight some Covenant. After defeating them, return to the door you entered. Inside the arena, the skull is resting on a brazier above it. You will need to grenade jump up some rocks next to it before making it all the way up. There are some frag grenades near the door next to a dead marine if you need some. From the rocks, walk towards the brazier while pushing towards the wall to reach the Skull.
Ghost makes enemies not flinch when shot.

Heavy Burden
Eye Patch

Progress through the ship on the way to Tolerance’s Bridge, until you reach a suspended bridge with a walkway to its side. Instead of crossing the bridge, continue through the unlocked door on the side of the bridge you entered the room on. Follow it to a locked door, with the Skull on the ground next to it.
Eye Patch disables auto aim on all weapons.

Grunt Birthday Party

While regrouping with the marine survivors, you’ll enter a multilevel room on the top floor, with a rock formation with some yellow foliage in it. The Skull is on top. There is a purple brazier on the second floor next to that you can use to jump to the Skull.
Grunt Birthday Party makes Grunt explode in confetti when killed by a headshot.

Efficient

On the gondola ride towards the end of the level, you’ll stop to restart the power. After restarting the power, you’ll continue forward. In the second area after that, there are two platforms, one on each side, that can be reached by jumping but are considered “out of bounds”. Jump onto the left one and run for the back right corner, where the Skull can be found on the ground. The Skull counts as collected, even if you die before making it back to the platform.
Efficient makes enemies drop more ammo when you kill them while you’re at full health.

Skulls can be activated when starting a mission from the New Game option on the main menu. For more on check out GameSpot’s Halo: Campaign Evolved review.
