One Piece: 6 Marines Who Should Leave The Organization

The Marines are an incredibly powerful organization in the One Piece world who form a part of the Three Great Powers. The Marines are the military face of the World Government, and essentially, they see to it that law and order are maintained all over the world. Over the years, fans have been introduced to countless Marines, some of whom can even be considered to be among the strongest characters in the entire series.

While the Marines have always had a certain presence, the new age has taken the seas by storm, both for pirates and the Navy. In other words, there are many within this organization that need to make way for the next generation and are unfit for carrying out their duties. These characters should pass on the mantle to the next generation, and in some cases, join with groups that align with their goals.

Tsuru

  • Marine Rank: Vice Admiral
  • Haki: Color of Armament, Color of Observation
  • Devil Fruit: Woshu Woshu no Mi
  • Devil Fruit Type: Paramecia

Tsuru is a Vice Admiral whom fans know to be quite vicious. She’s also quite powerful, as is evident from her position as a Vice Admiral. She has a Devil Fruit ability of Woshu Woshu no Mi, and on top of that, access to two types of Haki as well.

We have never seen her true strength, and it is highly unlikely that we will ever get to see it. Tsuru is quite old, and while she certainly does have a lot of wisdom and is tactically brilliant, she needs to call it a day and let the Next Generation take over. This is especially true now, since Tsuru’s granddaughter, Kujaku, is now a part of the next generation of the Navy. For now, she simply needs to sit back and enjoy her retirement, while not worrying about what becomes of the world.

Drake

  • Marine Rank: Captain (SWORD)
  • Haki: Color of Armament, Color of Observation
  • Devil Fruit: Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Allosaurus
  • Devil Fruit Type: Ancient Zoan

Drake is a member of the SWORD section of the Navy. He was introduced as a CAPTAIN of the SWORD, and in Wano he certainly had a very important role to play. Towards the end of Wano, Drake was left injured. However, he was still alive. It is now confirmed that Drake managed to survive, but the Navy has not heard much from him since. Drake will return to action sooner or later, which is a strong possibility, especially as the battle against the World Government finally unfolds.

However, it must be said that Drake’s morals don’t necessarily align with the Navy. He doesn’t stand for corruption or enslavement, and as such, he simply needs to call it a day and give up life as a Marine. Even though he is quite young, he has suffered a lot already, and it would be cruel for Oda to put him through more ordeals.

  • Marine Rank: Unknown
  • Haki: Color of Armament, Color of Observation
  • Devil Fruit: None
  • Devil Fruit Type: None

Sentomaru is a member of the Marines. He was once a bodyguard of Vegapunk; however, after the timeskip, he was officially given an unknown Marine rank. After the events of Egghead Island, Sentomaru cannot continue as a part of the Navy. Essentially, the World Government will consider him to have defected. He went against Kizaru; he did his best to protect Vegapunk against the wishes of the Government. No matter what, he has to retire as a Navy man.

What he does next and where he will go remains to be seen. For now, fans simply need to work under the assumption that Sentomaru has already left the Navy and will not have anything to do with this organization any longer. If he does ally with Luffy, the Straw Hats will definitely get a big boost in terms of power.

Fujitora

  • Marine Rank: Admiral
  • Haki: Color of Armament, Color of Observation
  • Devil Fruit: Zushi Zushi no Mi
  • Devil Fruit Type: Paramecia

Fujitora is one of the strongest Marines to have ever existed in One Piece. He is an Admiral, and that is proof of the fact that he is quite an important figure in the story. Fujitora has a very strong sense of Justice, and he always wants to do what is right. He also has a very kind heart, and, essentially, his ideals go against Sakazuki and his Navy.

Fujitora also despises the World Government, specifically those sitting at the top, also known as the Celestial Dragons. If there is ever a rebellion from within the Navy against the World Government, fans can expect him to take point in it. Otherwise, at some point, he will have to retire from the Marines because this organization doesn’t suit his ideals at all.

2

Sengoku

  • Marine Rank: Inspector General
  • Haki: Color of Armament, Color of Observation, Color of the Supreme King
  • Devil Fruit: Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Daibutsu
  • Devil Fruit Type: Mythical Zoan

Sengoku is one of the oldest members in the Navy. He was the former Fleet Admiral of this organization. However, after the events of the Paramount War, he wanted to resign. Eventually, Sengoku took up the position of Inspector General, and while he does have a lot of time to relax now, he is still officially a part of the Navy.

He raises the Next Generation within the Navy now, and he still has some responsibilities that he needs to let go of. It is time for young blood to take over in the Marines, and Sengoku simply needs to sit by and enjoy the rest of his life in retirement. His era is over, and his strength is likely waning as well.

Monkey D. Garp

  • Marine Rank: Vice Admiral (Former)
  • Haki: Color of Armament, Color of Observation, Color of the Supreme King
  • Devil Fruit: None
  • Devil Fruit Type: None

The Hero of the Navy, Garp is yet another old Marine who needs to retire. Just like Sengoku, after the Paramount War, he wanted to retire. Instead, Garp was asked to keep the title of Vice Admiral and play a role in raising the Next Generation. Garp has done his duty diligently ever since, and recently, on Egghead, he was fully incapacitated.

After saving Koby, along with a bunch of slaves, Garp is now in the captivity of the Blackbeard Pirates. Teach intends to use him as a trading chip against the World Government, and that is certainly going to be very interesting to see. In either case, Garp will not have it easy from here on out if he keeps serving the Navy. His role of protecting and raising the next generation of the Marines is already over, so he needs to leave the group and help out the true innocents who suffer under the cruelty of the World Government.
