Cyberpunk 2077 finally gets a fourth life path that allows you to have a completely new origin and prologue, but the catch is that it’s unofficial. Over the years, Cyberpunk 2077 has become one of the best examples of a video game redemption story, if not the single best, due to its state when it first launched compared to years later, after CD Projekt Red polished and updated it. This is not something every game can achieve, but it’s hard to argue against the massive changes and improvements that Cyberpunk 2077 went through.
Players did accept the challenge imposed by CD Projekt Red’s commitment, though, and started making progressively better and more game-changing mods for Cyberpunk 2077. There are incredible mods for the game that reinvent it or dramatically improve its systems, such as Equipment Ex, Cyberware Ex, Arasaka Cyberarms, Dark Future, Hardcore22V2, and collection mods like Night City Reborn and Welcome to Night City. While mods for new life paths existed before, a new one is here and better than ever for players to enjoy, called Fresh Start.
Cyberpunk 2077’s Life Paths at a Glance
- Nomad: A roamer of the Badlands who decides to leave their clan behind to find their new life and purpose in Night City. This changes your prologue and starting mission, which is The Nomad.
- Streetkid: Someone who’s familiar with life in the streets of Night City, its gangs, and the violence of it all. This changes your prologue and starting mission, which is The Street Kid.
- Corpo: A lifestyle that is as dangerous as it can be alluring in Cyberpunk 2077‘s Night City, the Corpo is familiar with the one percent of the population and the dangers that ensue. This changes your prologue and starting mission, which is The Corpo.
Cyberpunk 2077: 15 Tips To Get Off To A Good Start As A Beginner
If players want a good chance at surviving Night City then these beginner tips will serve to guide players to a good start in Cyberpunk 2077.
Say Hello to Your Next Cyberpunk 2077 Playthrough and Character Path
Fresh Start allows you to mix the Nomad and Corpo life paths, making it so that your V was once a corporate suit of Night City and moved on to the clan life of the nomads, but now they have neither and are back in Night City to find themselves again. The mod’s creator, @DeceptiousPhil on Twitter, recently managed to add the slot for the Nomad/Corpo path to the selection screen, seamlessly integrating them. The mod also comes with a customized prologue, which perfectly fits the new option.
The new prologue starts in the Orbital Air Station, where V is met by Jackie, Misty, and Vik. The screen selection upgrade may be new, but the Fresh Start mod has been one of the most popular for the game since it first debuted last year, with over 250,000 downloads to date. If you haven’t tried it yet, now is a great time to finally start that “one more” playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077.
This is especially true if you haven’t played since Cyberpunk 2077‘s 2.3 patch, which was followed up by patch 2.31 with additional fixes to AutoDrive, Photo Mode, and various quests. This is arguably the best state the game has been in, and with a fully functional mod like Fresh Start with integrated screen selection, there is no breaking your immersion.
It’ll be a while before Cyberpunk 2077‘s sequel launches, with The Witcher 4 taking precedence over it at CD Projekt Red. The recently shared plan of releasing three The Witcher games in 6 years may also spell bad news for future releases regarding the universe of Cyberpunk 2077, so if you’re itching for something new, Fresh Start has you covered. Even then, you can try out many mods if Fresh Start is not your thing or if you have played with it already.
DeceptiousPhil also has more plans for 2026, so if you like Fresh Start, you should check out more of their work.
