Our first very brief look at Spider-Man: Brand New Day is here

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have given us our first official look at the next MCU Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It’s a very short, not very telling peek at Spider-Man’s new suit, and clearly a strategic move by Marvel and Sony — and not just because today is supposedly [double checks calendar] “Spider-Man Day.”

On Friday, Spider-Man fans noticed that the official Spider-Man movie Instagram account had wiped all of its content. Shortly after, Marvel and Sony uploaded an eight-second clip showing off Peter Parker’s suit. It’s a very up-close look, showing raised webbing accents (evocative of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy) and the classic blue and red color scheme. It’s also glittery and textured in the way modern superhero movie costumes generally are, and quite different from the high-tech suits that Tom Holland’s Peter Parker wore in the previous three MCU Spider-Man films.

Marvel and Sony appear to be getting ahead of paparazzi shots emerging from the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is now filming in Glasgow. But it’s also a proven successful promotional beat. In 2020, The Batman director and co-writer Matt Reeves offered a very early look at Robert Pattinson’s Batman suit two years before that movie actually hit theaters. Marvel and Sony know that MCU fans are starved for updates on the next Spider-Man movie, so they can have a little costume peek, as a treat.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now less than a year away. The next movie in the franchise, a follow-up to the massively successful Spider-Man: No Way Home, is slated to hit movie theaters on July 31, 2026.

Holland will reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and will be joined by fellow returning stars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon. Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Jon Bernthal are joining the cast. Brand New Day is directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ Destin Daniel Cretton.
