Weapon Core Unlocking is one of the major features, added in the 1.2.4 Update. It allows you to further improve your firearms by using special Cores, that you can fans in the game. And, to help us out, one dedicated The First Descendant fan made a cheatsheet of all Weapon Core upgrades, so we can now plan ahead.
In the 1.2.4 Update, Nexon added Ines, Void Erosion missions, Weapon Core Unlock feature, and more. The latter requires you to max out your weapon first and then you can unlock the weapon’s Cores. They serve as “slots” where you insert specific Augmentations, of which there are seven subgroups: Firepower, Hit, Attribute, Free, Tactical, Precision, and Special. Each weapon has different types of Cores available. And, if you are wondering what bonuses each Augmentation offers and which slots each Ultimate weapon has, a dedicated player has your back.

The players have some gripes with the purple ones, Special Attributes, as their bonuses are arguably the worst of all.
