Just hours after the release, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 managed to beat the prequel’s all-time peak of concurrent players, hitting around 160k players on Steam only.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is one of the best medieval games around. It follows the story of Henry of Skalitz, from his humble beginnings as a blacksmith’s apprentice to his rise as an important figure in medieval Bohemia. And now, a sequel has just been released. Aptly named Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, it continues where the first part left off. The team at Warhorse Studios worked for years to give us the most immersive medieval experience possible, and it looks like they’ve done it.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Surpasses the Prequel In Just Five Hours After the Release
On February 4, 2025, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 was officially released. It has been teased for a while now and gamers everywhere flocked to see what Warhorse has in store for us. The game already has very positive reviews from the critics, having a respectable 88/100 score on Metacritic (that’s solely based on critic reviews; user reviews are still unavailable). It could have been higher, if not for a single review which sparked an unnecessary reaction from one of the studio’s founders.
In any case, the hype for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is real, and the first hour of the release saw about 9.500 concurrent players. This exploded, and in just five hours after the official release, that number grew to 159.351 players. For the record, the peak number of concurrent players of the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance is around 96k, meaning that the sequel surpassed it by about 60k players.
Note that this is based on SteamDB, and does not take into account players on PS5, Xbox, or those playing via the Epic Games platform. With all of them added, we are surely looking at something around 180k players, if not more.
These numbers will undoubtedly grow as more players get their hands on their own copy of KCD2, and especially on the first weekend after the release (that being February 8-9). It looks like Warhorse really outdid themselves this time.
