With Fortnite‘s current season scheduled to end soon, the community has been trying to find any clues about next season’s theme. There is no doubt that the start of a new season is one of the most exciting times for Fortnite players, but it seems that fans have been particularly excited for the upcoming Chapter 7 Season 4, as several leaks suggest its main theme will be Gaming Legends.
When v41.30 dropped, data miners dug into the game files and uncovered encrypted posters featuring well-known video game franchises such as Mega Man, Pac-Man, Tetris, and Sonic the Hedgehog. A few days later, gamers heard Pac-Man‘s intro track at Wonkeeland. While it has now been disabled, it was a fun teaser that fueled the rumors surrounding next season’s theme.
On Tuesday, a newsfeed update called the current season “Override.” The Spanish version featured the word “Glitch” and the French translation called it “System Hacked.” This error led fans to believe that this would be Chapter 7 Season 4’s title.
It seems that players were, in fact, correct. The official Fortnite account posted a Chapter 7 Season 4 teaser on Wednesday, confirming that the next season will be titled “Override” and have the slogan “Break the rules. Change the game.” The announcement text has the same glitched effect seen in the Gem Sprite news feed announcement, which most likely means it is connected to the upcoming end-of-season event Unstable. The event should bring the current season’s story to a close and prepare players for what else is to come. It is also believed that the leaked character posters will be relevant during this event, as they were found in the same game file as the Unstable story moment.
In addition to newcomers, Fortnite fans are hoping to see the return of some Gaming Legends, namely God of War’s Kratos, a skin that has been out of rotation in the Item Shop since early 2021. Atlus’ Persona is one of the highly rumored and anticipated collabs coming to Fortnite, but that has yet to be confirmed. However, gamers can expect to see some Kingdom Hearts representation in Fortnite‘s next season. A Rocket League collaboration with Kingdom Hearts was recently leaked, and as players can link their Epic Games account to both games, they will be able to use these cosmetics in Fortnite as well. It’s rare that a Rocket League collab would happen without a Fortnite crossover, especially during a gaming-themed season.
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 starts in the early hours of Aug. 20, once downtime has ended.
