World of Warcraft Clarifies Rare Love is in the Air Item Drop Rates

Summary

  • World of Warcraft clarified how the drop rates for old and new rare loot in the Love is in the Air event work.
  • Old drops have a higher chance on the initial try and a low chance on subsequent ones, while new items only drop on the first attempt each day.
  • The drop rates for new and old items during Love is in the Air will likely apply to future holiday events.

World of Warcraft recently clarified exactly how rare drops from Love is in the Air work, with old loot having a higher chance to drop on the initial try and a small chance on subsequent ones, while new items only appear on the first attempt. This information will help World of Warcraft fans who are trying to farm the Crown Chemical Co. encounter for the X-45 Heartbreaker or the Love Witch’s Sweeper do so more efficiently.

Love is in the Air is the World of Warcraft in-game equivalent of Valentine’s Day. Last year, the event was overhauled with new quests, rewards, and festival venues, and this year, World of Warcraft players can get the Love Witch’s Sweeper mount from the Crown Chemical Co. encounter, along with a new pet and some shoulder transmogs in exchange for the now-Warbound Love Tokens.

Now, World of Warcraft has provided some clarity as to the drop rates for loot from the Crown Chemical Co., including both old and new items. In a post on the Blizzard forums, WoW community manager Kaivax confirmed that legacy drops, such as the coveted X-45 Heartbreaker mount in World of Warcraft, have a significantly higher drop rate from the first attempt, but with a very low chance on subsequent characters for people who wish to farm it. On the contrary, new items, like the Love Witch’s Sweeper, can only drop on the first attempt per account, with that chance increasing on each subsequent day.

World of Warcraft Love is in the Air Loot Explained

  • Returning items – Higher chance on the first attempt, very low chance on subsequent ones

    • Includes the X-45 Heartbreaker rocket mount
  • New items – Chance on first attempt only, with higher chance on subsequent days

    • Includes the Love Witch’s Sweeper broom mount

While this technically only applies to Love is in the Air this year, Kaivax’s clarification seems to match how World of Warcraft has done holiday drops recently. Fans can assume other events, including future runs of Love is in the Air, will run on a similar metric.

Needless to say, these new drop rates appear to be working. Many players have already received the Love Witch’s Sweeper mount over the first few days of the event, and some especially lucky ones looted both the Love Witch’s Sweeper and the X-45 Heartbreaker at the same time. Love is in the Air runs until February 17, so fans who need either of these mounts should be sure to beat the Crown Chemical Co. at least once a day until then.

For those who don’t end up getting the Love Witch’s Sweeper before the event is over, there are two alternative colors they can get instead. World of Warcraft’s controversial new Enchanted Sweeper Bundle includes a blue and purple variant along with 600 Trader’s Tender until the end of March, and the crimson Silvermoon Sweeper is available at the Trading Post for 600 Trader’s Tender through February.
