Maybe The Release Is Closer Than We Think? Death Stranding 2 On the Beach Rated in South Korea

One of the most anticipated games of 2025, Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has just been rated in South Korea, prompting some fans to think that the release is closer than we think.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is the sequel to the ever-popular Death Stranding, released in 2019. It continues where the first part left off, following the story of Sam Bridges. Kojima stated that he had written the game’s original story sometime prior to 2020, but decided to rework the narrative when faced with new story concepts that reflected the impact of COVID-19 on the rest of the world. The release date is one of the most anticipated pieces of gaming info of today. However, the upcoming game has just been rated in South Korea, and many think that Death Stranding 2’s release is closer than we think.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Rated in South Korea as “Not Suitable For Minors”

DS2 has just been rated on a South Korean Game Rating and Association Committee (aka. GRAC). When translated using Google Translate, we get:

“An adventure game about delivering parcels across a post-apocalyptic world and connecting cities to save humanity.

  • Excessive violence
    • There is red blood and bodily harm during combat using weapons during the game.
  • Excessive vulgar language, profanity, and swearing
    • There is excessive vulgarity and swearing during the game (f**k, a**h**e, s**t, d**n, h**ys**t, etc.)
  • Direct drug use
    • Smoking and drinking scenes are depicted during the game.

Therefore, according to Article 21 of the Act on Promotion of the Game Industry and Article 7, Paragraph 4 of the Rating Classification Regulations, it has been rated as ‘Not available to minors’.”

Published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.”

Possible Release Soon?

When this rating reached the community, some players noted that the first Death Stranding was released three months after the rating, and speculated that the sequel would follow suit. “Death Stranding 1 was around the three month mark. Within 3 months is the typical release after being rated in South Korea,” said -LastGrail- on Reddit, and “So I guess DS2 is gonna be a Spring/Summer game then. These usually pop up around 3 or so months before release,” added  Unfair-Rutabaga8719.

Hopefully, more info will be revealed in the next State of Play, scheduled for February 14.
