Batman’s got quite a collection of tasks for you to tackle in his Hot Bat Summer event in Fortnite. Some of these missions are relatively easy to work through, while others can be rather tricky, as is the case with the outlast players at night quest.
Outlasting other players is a tough enough endeavor on its own, but attempting to do so at a specific time of day makes this mission even more difficult to check off. It’s a key one to complete if you want to claim all special event rewards, though, so here’s how to outlast players at night in Fortnite Chapter 7, season 3.
Outlast players at night in Fortnite
To complete the outlast players at night quest as part of the Hot Bat Summer event, you need to outlive a total of 75 players while the sun is down on the Fortnite island. A lot of this mission comes down to random luck, as there’s no way to control whether it’s night or day on the island.
When you do manage to get a nighttime island, focus on surviving above all else, as it might be a while before you manage to play during the night again. It’s a good idea to land somewhere around the outer edges of the map, ideally at a location that’s very far away from the battle bus path and not likely to be a spot other players visit. Landing in the water around the island is an especially good way to ensure survival, as players rarely ever venture out to explore it.
For the entire round, focus on hanging out as close to the edge of the storm as possible. The further out you are, the less likely you are to run into enemy players, thus ensuring you manage to live for as long as possible.
Luckily, the progress of this mission carries over between rounds. This means any players you outlast at night count toward the mission, and that you can steadily work on it over time as you’re given opportunities to play at night.
How to play at night in Fortnite

Unfortunately, there’s no way to guarantee you’re playing a round at night in Fortnite. Instead, it mostly comes down to luck and random chance, as some matches start off at night, while others transition to nightfall as the round progresses.
If you start off in a round at nighttime, you’re good to go from the start and should focus solely on staying alive as the round progresses. If not, though, keep an eye on the sun. It will eventually go down, signalling that nightfall has arrived, and you can then focus on outlasting other players. It takes quite a long time when the round starts in the day, though, so patience is key here.
Because of how much luck and random chance play a role in this mission, it’s generally best to focus on checking off other ones and work on this one in the background whenever you notice that it’s nighttime. This ensures you’re still making the most of your time while also being ready to work through this task as soon as the opportunity arrives.
If you’re looking for some missions to work on while you wait for nighttime, some good ones to tackle are talking to The Order to review audio logs, finding all Batman character locations, visiting the Batcave, and getting a Grim Reaper Sprite.
