How to Survive an Antlion Attack in PEAK (Megaentomology Badge)

If you thought scaling the heights of PEAK was your biggest challenge, the Mesa update has something far more menacing waiting for you: The Antlion. Those who are brave enough to face this fearsome insect deep in the Mesa biome, and smart enough to survive, will unlock the Megaentomology Badge in PEAK. This achievement requires both courage and strategy, regardless if you’re teaming up with a friend or going solo in PEAK.

How to Get the Megaentomology Badge in PEAK

To get the Megaentomology Badge, you need to take damage from the Antlion and survive the attack. The Antlion can only be found in the Mesa biome in PEAK. These insects live in a massive, bowl-shaped sand pit. These pits can be spotted from a distance by large circular depressions in the sand and the piece of luggage placed in the center to lure players in.

As soon as you walk toward the center of the pit, the creature will burst out of the sand and try to pull you in. This automatically triggers the Antlion’s attack. You need to make it out alive to unlock the Megaentomology badge. The Antlion’s pull is strong, so you’ll need quick reflexes and good positioning to escape.

Those who manage to survive the attack and escape alive, will be rewarded with the Megaentomology Badge and a cosmetic item.

How To Survive the Antlion Attack in PEAK

The best strategy is to move against the pull while jumping repeatedly to gain distance. Make sure you have full stamina before taking on this insect.

Just a few bites from these insects can cause you to faint. This is where having a friend along can make things easier. They can jump in to pull you out of the pit or, if you do collapse, use an appropriate item to revive you and get you back on your feet.

Once you’ve escaped the Antlion’s reach, the Megaentomology Badge will unlock automatically. You don’t have to defeat the creature; just surviving the attack is enough for now. Put simply, you need to get bitten at least once before escaping to get the badge.

At the time of writing, the Antlion encounter is currently stable, but game updates may tweak its behavior or location. Keep an eye on patch notes if you’re hunting for this badge after a major update.
