If there’s one thing Diablo 4 excels at, it’s the near-endless possibilities players have for builds. Diablo 4 players who are looking to lean into the more bizarre build options in Season 9 have the lion’s share to choose from, especially once they’ve netted a couple of Mythic items. The Necromancer has one build that may not be the most conventional, but if done right, can essentially leave players perpetually invincible and make running Escalating Nightmares and the Pit of the Artificer a cakewalk.
Although the best Necromancer builds in Diablo 4 Season 9 tend to rely on Blight and Blood Wave as their focal points, the combination of Blood Mist and Decrepify can be a dynamic duo with the right setup around them. Blood Mist has been a staple for many Necromancer builds, especially in the early game since it offers a triple whammy of Immunity, damage to nearby enemies, and self-healing while active. Despite the nerfs Blood Mist has seen since Diablo 4‘s launch, the skill can still be exploited for the player’s benefit when coupled with Decrepify and a healthy number of corpses for the Necromancer to consume.
Diablo 4 Season 9’s ‘Infinimist’ Blood Mist Necromancer Basically Makes Players Invincible
The Infinimist Necromancer’s Skills Leverage Luck for Invincibility
The meat and potatoes of this Diablo 4 Necromancer build reside in the Blood Mist and Decrepify skills, but there are other options that help round out the player’s action bar. To make the most of this build players will want to take advantage of skills like:
- Blood Mist
- Decrepify
- Corpse Explosion
- Soulrift
- Blight
- Decompose
What makes Decrepify such a necessary component to this build is due to its Lucky Hit chance that reduces the cooldown of all skills by 1 second for each enemy hit while affected by Decrepify. The goal of this build is to find every possible way to reduce Blood Mist’s cooldown so that it can be reactivated again as soon as it ends. However, Blood Mist itself isn’t the main damage dealer of this build, so Necromancer skills like Corpse Explosion, Blight, Soulrift, and Decompose are necessary since they can drain enemies of their health rapidly when stacked on top of each other.
Additionally, there are a few necessary Legendary Aspects Diablo 4 players will want on this build. These Aspects are necessary pieces of the puzzle and are really the workhorses of the build:
- Explosive Mist
- Cursed Aura
- Aspect of the Damned
Explosive Mist allows Blood Mist to trigger Corpse Explosion on nearby corpses, with the cooldown for Blood Mist being reduced for each corpse detonated. This Aspect combined with Decrepify’s Lucky Hit should allow Blood Mist to constantly be off cooldown as long as the player targets groups of enemies. Cursed Aura helps increase Decrepify’s range by surrounding the Necromancer in an aura that curses enemies with Decrepify and spreads that curse to other nearby enemies every 0.3 seconds. Finally, Aspect of the Damned deals increased Shadow Damage to enemies afflicted with any curse, meaning that skills like Blight can hit those enemies affected by Decrepify even harder.
Another useful but not required piece of this build is the Howl From Below Unique, which causes Corpse Explosion to spawn a Volatile Skeleton that charges enemies before exploding with 50% increased damage.
How to Make the Most of the Infinimist Necromancer in Diablo 4 Season 9
The Infinimist Necromancer becomes even more powerful in Diablo 4 Season 9 because of the presence of Horadric Spells and Horadric Jewels, which can help further passively damage enemies while reducing skill cooldowns. For Horadric Spells, the Infinimist Necromance benefits most from the Disintegrate Catalyst since players will be moving around a lot with Blood Mist, so having a beam of damage constantly emitting from the player can be very useful for finishing off enemies affected by Decrepify and Blight. Nebulous Extract is a great Infusion choice since it turns the Catalyst’s damage into Shadow Damage that can benefit from Aspect of the Damned.
The Luminate Eye Horadric Jewel is a must-have on this build since it grants a 25% cooldown reduction to the player’s Catalyst Skill. Pairing the Disintegrate Catalyst with Blood Mist means that this Jewel will automatically give Blood Mist a 25% reduced cooldown, on top of the reduction it gains from Decrepify’s Lucky Hit and the Explosive Mist Aspect. With all of these moving parts in place, Diablo 4 Necromancers have a build that essentially allows them to set up pools of Blight and then go invincible indefinitely while enemies are melted by Shadow Damage.
