Mario Kart World has a summer event and sadly it’s not free DLC

Mario Kart World has some exciting news in store for fans, but sadly, it’s not the free DLC that many have been hoping for.

Earlier on Aug. 14, the Japanese X handle for Nintendo announced a new event that will allow you to race in 150cc races and try to establish yourself as one of the top 100 racers in the world. While the original post is in Japanese, OatmealDome has kindly translated the post for the English-speaking world.

Mario Kart World’s Summer Vacation Skill event will test your skills

The event, as of writing, seems to be meant for Mario Kart World players in Japan. It goes live on Aug. 23 and will be hosted between 3am and 10am CT. While we are about a week away from the event, you can already put in the practice.

You’ll notice the new “Search for an Event” feature if you have updated your Mario Kart World client. Press the “-” symbol in the online menu, where you can enter the code ID 2378 for the practice race.

The official leaderboards are only meant for the Japanese player base. Irrespective of how you perform on the track, your results won’t be considered unless you’re located in Japan.

Players who manage to make it to the top 100 on the leaderboard, along with the winner, will be featured on Nintendo’s website. As of writing, the race has been announced only on the Japanese handle. I believe that the race will eventually have a global variant for the Western audience. As for the DLC, the wait goes on.
