Fortnite’s New Season Is Here, and It Creates a Massive Video Game Multiverse

Chapter 7 Season 4 has been Fortnite‘s most highly anticipated season launch in a while due to its main themes: hacking and video games. At long last, it is here. You can now jump out of the Battle Bus and land on the Battle Royale island to find dozens of players dressed as Sonic, items and weapons from other video game franchises, and locations based on fan-favorite levels, such as Green Hill Zone.

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, also known as Fortnite Override, brings all sorts of video game characters into the popular Battle Royale. It all begins with the new Battle Pass, which grants Sonic the Hedgehog immediately upon purchase. Players who purchase the pass during the first week of the season will get early access to the Grace Crowne skin (Tier 60) and her Infiltrator style.

Other skins aren’t from existing video game franchises, but definitely fit the theme, as they are based on various game genres. While some were expecting more collaboration skins to be included in the Battle Pass, they’ll have to wait for them to become available in the Item Shop. Shadow and Doctor Eggman are the first expected video game characters to come to the Fortnite shop, but players will also eventually see characters from Kingdom Hearts, Pac-Man, Mega Man, Persona 5, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, 99 Nights in the Forest, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro.

As they wait for the Item Shop to refresh, players have plenty of time to grind for Battle Pass levels, so they can unlock more V-Bucks and cosmetics. To get more XP and level up, players can jump onto the island and start completing quests. However, for a quick boost, they can use the admin panel in the lobby to try the new Lobby Hacks mechanic, which grants useful bonuses. They can start off the season with the “OverrideXP” code, which grants 40,000 XP — the equivalent of half a season level.

On the island, players will find Cheat Codes, which summon sprites. They can call a Tetris Rift to spawn Tetriminos and play Tetris. They have to search for the Override Console, as it spawns each match and grants special in-game abilities to whoever finds it — at the cost of marking their (or their squad’s) location on the map. They will find Sonic’s Power Sneakers, which let players soar across the map. Mega Man‘s Mega Buster and Midas’s Masterpiece are some of the most powerful weapons on the map at the moment, but more are still to come. Epic Games’s blog post confirms that the Kingdom Key from Kingdom Hearts is coming as well as Rebecca’s Guns from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Chapter 7 Season 4 scheduled to end on Oct. 31 — after this, it will likely make way for the annual mini-season before Chapter 8 begins. Therefore, players have plenty of time to explore everything Override has to offer and reach Level 100.
