Gojo Satoru was an iconic sorcerer who was also quite easily the most popular character in the original Jujutsu Kaisen story by Gege Akutami. As the strongest modern sorcerer, Gojo was a fan favorite, which is precisely why it was a significant blow when he ended up losing his life in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 236, on September 24, 2023.
Gojo’s death left a massive hole for the sorcerers to fill, but now, in the Modulo era, the next Gojo Satoru has officially been unveiled to us. This person is none other than Yuji Itadori, as confirmed in the final volume release of JJK Modulo on May 1, 2026. Not only has Yuji Itadori inherited Gojo Satoru’s dreams, but he has also taken over his title of the “Strongest,” making him Gojo’s perfect successor.
Jujutsu Kaisen Makes Yuji Itadori The Next Gojo Satoru By Leading The New Generation
When the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga ended, Gege Akutami gave us a small flashback that showcased the last meeting between Gojo and Yuji before the Shinjuku Showdown Battle began. In this small meeting, Gojo told Yuji to seek a different kind of strength from him, but at the same time, he also entrusted his dreams to him. Just as Gojo dedicated his life to raising the next generation in order to change a corrupt sorcerer society, Yuji Itadori is now doing the same in the Modulo era. Of course, the sorcerer society itself has changed dramatically over the years, but in an incredibly unpredictable and turbulent time following the removal of Cursed Energy from Japanese sorcerers at the end of JJK Modulo in Chapter 25, Yuji Itadori has a big role to play.

Just as Gojo once did, Yuji will raise the next generation of sorcerers. In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 25, which was officially released on March 8, 2026, Yuji Itadori made his desire to raise a new generation of sorcerers known. On his quest, he will be helped by Nobara Kugisaki and Aoi Todo, both of whom are capable sorcerers in their own right. In essence, Yuji Itadori is going to play the same role as Gojo Satoru to raise the next generation right. This is precisely what Gojo had asked of him before his death, and now Yuji is finally honoring it.
“There’s a dream I want you to carry on in my wake if something should happen to me. But if this is where I bow out, there will be a time when you guys grow more than I ever did, right? I’m expecting great things from you. Got that, Yuji?” — Gojo entrusts his dream to Yuji, JJK Chapter #271
Yuji Holds Control Of The Gojo Clan Warehouse
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 25 also highlighted the fact that Yuji still has access to the Gojo Clan warehouse. This was first shown when Yuji went to the warehouse to procure Panda and take him along to meet Nobara. While explaining his plan to her in Modulo Chapter 25, Yuji officially stated that he intends to take the Cursed Tools currently present in the Gojo Clan warehouse and mass-produce them.
The primary reason for this is Yuji’s removal of cursed energy from the future generation of sorcerers. Without cursed energy, there will be no means to fight against Cursed Spirits. Yuji wants to mitigate that by raising a generation of Heavenly Restriction users who can all wield powerful Cursed Tools that will now be mass-produced. This will allow for a new generation to rise who can fight against adversity, and they will all be trained by Yuji Itadori himself, just as Gojo intended. The fact that Yuji also has access to the warehouses of the Gojo clan further goes to show that his connection to Gojo, and his role as the “next Gojo Satoru,” is extremely important in the overarching narrative of this world.
As to why Yuji has access to it and how he gained it in the first place, we do not know, but what matters is that Yuji is carrying Gojo’s legacy in every way possible.
“The last part is pretty bothersome. I’m gonna become a cursed object when I finally die. As you know, the aliens arrived. We don’t know what will become of the Earth later on. Yuji Itadori Officially Took Gojo’s Role As The Strongest
Apart from inheriting Gojo’s dream and following in his footsteps by raising the next generation, Yuji Itadori also took over the role of the “Strongest” that Gojo once had. At the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen, Gojo Satoru made it quite clear to us that he was the strongest sorcerer of the modern era. Unfortunately, Gojo met his end in JJK Chapter 236 following his battle with Ryomen Sukuna. Thankfully, Yuji Itadori has also taken over Gojo’s role as the Strongest of this new era, once again highlighting his role as the next Gojo.
In Yuji’s case, he is going to continue to play this role for a significant time period. This is because Yuji Itadori is going to live for centuries longer, as confirmed by Gege Akutami himself in the author notes that came with the release of Modulo Volume #3 on May 1, 2026. Yuji is part-cursed spirit and part-human, which means that his body ages very differently. As all his friends around him die one by one, Yuji will continue to live for a very long time and build his strength even further. Gojo peaked as a very powerful sorcerer, but Yuji will surpass all limits and reach levels of strength that were previously unknown even to the likes of Gojo and Sukuna. This makes him the perfect successor for the beloved white-haired sorcerer, and we absolutely cannot wait to see what the future holds for Yuji.

Unfortunately, as things stand, it is highly unlikely that Gege Akutami will give us a look at Yuji at the peak of his powers. This is because Gege ended Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo abruptly following a six-month-long short serialization. Gege intends to return to drawing manga eventually, but whether this return will be with Jujutsu Kaisen or with a completely different series remains unknown as of now. Since Gege has already dedicated quite a lot of time to the Jujutsu Kaisen universe, it is likely that he will make a fresh beginning with a new series when he does come back. In other words, there is a big possibility that Yuji Itadori’s prime powers will never be revealed to us. In either case, we know that Yuji surpassed both Gojo and Sukuna at his peak and that he was the absolute strongest sorcerer, the likes of which couldn’t be rivaled by anyone else.
