Netflix has revealed the trailer for season 2 of its Devil May Cry anime, in which an older, more Devil May Cry 2-coded Dante finally meets his long-lost brother Vergil face to face. The trailer begins with a visibly older Dante, with longer, unkempt hair. Notably, his costume has evolved between seasons to resemble his appearance in 2003’s Devil May Cry 2, but don’t worry, he at least still acts like Dante in this trailer, unlike the game. He appears to be working alongside Lady and her organization as she reveals to Dante that they’ve found his twin brother causing mayhem. It seems Lady’s organization sends Dante in, where the two share an exchange before clashing in the middle of a rainy lake.

The long-anticipated meeting between the brothers has been teased since Devil May Cry season 1’s opening scene. With Dante confronting what turned out to be a clone demon named Plasma, it was clear their reunion would start with violence. The trailer doesn’t hold back, delivering exactly what fans expect when Dante and Vergil finally come face to face. Although the Devil May Cry anime deviates from the video games, its loose inspiration keeps the spirit of the games alive, and it appears the same will be done as it relates to the 2003 game.

Series creator Adi Shankar seems acutely aware of Devil May Cry and its pitfalls, already addressing Dante’s brooding persona in Devil May Cry 2. But don’t think it’ll push any sales toward the oft-derided DMC2 like season 1 did for Devil May Cry 5.

Catch Devil May Cry season 2 when it hits Netflix sometime in 2026.
