A New Pokemon TCG Pocket Event Lets You Earn Free Pack Hourglasses, but You’ll Need to Act Fast

Between now and the end of September, Pokemon TCG Pocket players can take part in a special challenge to earn 24 Pack Hourglasses. The Team Rocket’s Ambition Great Puzzle Challenge is made up of six rounds, which are spread across three levels: Poke Ball Level, Great Ball Level, and Ultra Ball Level.

The first few rounds are pretty easy, as you can guess from the available answers until you find the right one. However, the deeper into the challenge you get, the harder it becomes, with the last few puzzles requiring you to manipulate the page using your fingers or mouse. Team Rocket’s Ambition Great Puzzle Challenge – Poke Ball Level: Puzzle 1

To solve Poke Ball Level: Puzzle 1, look at the two sets of cards and find the Gen 1 Psychic-type Pokemon that’s missing from the set on the left / bottom (the two sets are positioned differently depending on the orientation of your screen).

Team Rocket’s Ambition Great Puzzle Challenge – Poke Ball Level: Puzzle 2

To solve Poke Ball Level: Puzzle 2, count the number of Pokemon shown in each of the four cards shown at the top. You’ll notice that there’s one Rattata, two Zubats, three Sneasels, and four Murkrows, so the next card in the series needs to show five Pokemon.

Team Rocket’s Ambition Great Puzzle Challenge – Great Ball Level: Puzzle 1

To solve Great Ball Level: Puzzle 1, look at the rarity symbol of each of the cards. Slugma has one diamond; Raichu has two diamonds; and Bewear and Zekrom have three. By taking the first letter of Slugma, the second letter of Raichu, the third letter of Bewear, and the third letter of Zekrom, you can spell out the name of a Gen 5 Fighting-type Pokemon.

Team Rocket’s Ambition Great Puzzle Challenge – Great Ball Level: Puzzle 2

To solve Great Ball Level: Puzzle 2, scroll down to the bottom of the page and look for an image with a bunch of Team Rocket logos and four Poke Balls. Drag this up the page and position the Poke Balls over the Sandshrew card. The four white circles will spell out the name of a Gen 3 Steel / Rock-type Pokemon.

Team Rocket’s Ambition Great Puzzle Challenge – Great Ball Level: Puzzle 3

To solve Great Ball Level: Puzzle 3, start with Team Rocket’s Tinkaton and compare its attack to the HP of Espeon and Flutter Mane. It can OHKO Flutter Mane, so flip Tinkaton by clicking on it. Next, do the same with Flutter Man, this time comparing it against Magmar and Wigglytuff ex. Repeating this process (remembering to take weaknesses into account) will result in the following chain:

• Team Rocket’s Tinkaton > Flutter Mane > Magmar > Vespiquen > Landorus > Greedent > Virizion > Ting-Lu > Nidoking

If you read the words on the back of all of the flipped cards in the order that you flipped them, you’ll find a secret message: “First Letter of each face-up card from right to left.” From there, you just need to look at the three face-up cards (Melmetal, Espeon, and Wigglytuff ex) to find the name of a Gen 1 Psychic-type.

Team Rocket’s Ambition Great Puzzle Challenge – Ultra Ball Level: Puzzle 1

To solve Ultra Ball Level: Puzzle 1, flip over all of the cards that aren’t Fighting, Steel, Rock, or Psychic-types, meaning Vespiquen, Magnezone, Flygon ex, Pyukumuku, Treecko, Iron Bundle, and Typhlosion ex, to reveal a secret message that reads “Look behind the coin.” Scroll up to the top of the page and click and swipe on the Giovanni coin to flip it to reveal another secret message telling you to “Create a Rocket.” To do so, scroll down to the bottom of the page and grab the four Pokeballs image that you used earlier. You’ll need to drag it to the top of the page and line it up so that the blue backslash turns the P of the Pokemon TCG Pocket logo into an R (thus spelling Rocket). Four of the red circles will magnify letters from the cards in the background, spelling out a two-word phrase that you can use as your final answer.

How to Claim Your Free Pack Hourglasses

After completing the final puzzle, you’ll get a digital certificate to share on social media. More importantly, you’ll be able to click a button to get a code for 24 Pack Hourglasses. To redeem it, head to the official code redemption page and paste your code into the Gift Code box. Next, in the Pokemon TCG Pocket app, click the hamburger menu (the one in the bottom right corner, to the left of the battle menu) and look for your support ID. Copy it and paste it into the Support ID box on the redemption page, and then click Send to claim your Pokemon TCG Pocket rewards.
