A new erotic horror thriller is inbound, this time coming from Bleecker Street and director Mercedes Bryce Morgan, featuring a lake with a seductive name. Something something the stakes are more than this couple bargained for but let’s focus on the fact that they decided to stay at a place called Bone Lake because they thought it was a sex pun.

As the trailer tees up, a couple is bound for a romantic getaway at a secluded lakeside estate when they are forced to share the location with a sexy and mysterious couple, the dreamy escape turns into a creepy nightmare filled with sex, lies, and manipulation.

In the trailer above, we hear one of the mysterious lovers say, “Think of this as an opportunity to prove your love before the weekend is through. But if you leave now, there are things about us and each other that you’re never gonna know.” We’re also clued in that it seems like someone wanted all of them there before we’re left with the line “love is like a game of chess” and a tagline that reads “in this game, winners come first” with a bunch of quick shots of violence and a chainsaw before the title emerges from a black body of water.

The film stars two pairs of actors — Maddie Hasson, Marco Pigossi, Alex Roe, and Andra Nechita — and given the seductive marketing and precarious situation, it looks a bit like a tongue-in-cheek version of See No Evil, starring James Mcavoy, a remake of a 2022 Danish film in itself. But more for couples.

Bone Lake is slated to hit theaters Oct. 3, 2025.
