Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is finally making its way to Blu-ray, and you can pre-order it now

Fans of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners can finally own the series for the first time on Blu-ray in North America. The three-disc Complete Blu-ray Box Set, produced by Aniplex of America, is now available to pre-order via Crunchroll for $123.98 ahead of its Oct. 28 release. It celebrates the fan-favorite series that won Anime of the Year at the 7th annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2023.

This collector’s edition features an exclusive illustrated cover by character designer and animation director Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia), a booklet, a storyboard booklet of the final episode by director Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, KILL la KILL), three animation character cel sheets, and a 2nd anniversary poster.

Set in the world of the game Cyberpunk 2077, Edgerunners was produced in collaboration with developer CD Projekt Red and animation studio TRIGGER (Delicious in Dungeon, Promare), and debuted on Netflix. That last part makes this physical release especially special, because that platform and other online streamers rarely release their content on Blu-ray.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners follows David Martinez, a young resident of Night City who faces a devastating personal tragedy. Determined to take control of his life, David becomes an edgerunner, navigating the city’s dangerous criminal underworld. The series explores the consequences of pushing physical and emotional limits, and the cost of seeking fame in a world driven by greed and disregard for human life.

Season 2 of Cyberpunk Edgerunners was announced earlier this year at Anime Expo, where Martinez’s voice actor, Zack Aguilar, told Polygon he got to meet a lot of the team for the first time.

“I got to meet the writer, [Bartosz] Sztybor, and we really hit it off. He was super sweet, he’s like, ‘I [could never] see anybody else playing David other than you,’ and I was just really touched by his words, and I’m so happy to hear he enjoyed my performance [in] the role.”

He also said that although his character’s story is over, he would love to make a return in the future. “I would love to return, maybe as a flashback, a cameo, just anything, really. I love that universe, I love the team, the writing’s fantastic, it’s gorgeous, I mean, I wanna be a part of cool stuff, and that’s what they make, is cool stuff.”

Pre-orders are available now, with the official release date set for Oct. 28, exclusively through the Crunchyroll Store.
