Oh, my youth. I can’t believe Spyro the Dragon is actually coming back in a new adventure.
We got a bit of a deeper look at Spyro: A Realm Beyond today as part of Spyro Community Day, celebrating the lovable purple dragon and all of his adventures, and some new key art was revealed as part of it:
The fact that Spyro even still has a community day filled with fans after many years of the franchise’s inactivity is a testament to how beloved the character is (along with tens of millions of views on the game’s reveal trailer from June).
“Your unwavering enthusiasm, passion, and creativity have helped to keep Spyro soaring through the years,” said the game’s devs at Toys for Bob. “Whether you’ve been here since the original trilogy, revisiting favorite moments in the Reignited Trilogy, sharing fan art, creating content, or introducing new players to Spyro’s world, this community has always been at the heart of the franchise.”
To celebrate, the new area revealed today is Arcadian Vale, one of the game’s early regions that “captures the charm and wonder that defines Spyro’s new adventure.”
“Made up of a calm, serene atmosphere, Arcadian Vale is a vibrant landscape filled with natural beauty,” the studio explained. “Across the scene are cascading waterfalls tumbling down from towering cliffs. Ancient stone structures and weathered monuments rise from the terrain while lush greenery blankets the valley floor, creating a destination that feels magical and alive.”
Included in the reveal are some new animal buddies that can be found in the region, seen in the picture above, like the llama, hareakeet, sheep, and leafwing. Similarly to the inclusion of fun creatures like these, A Realm Beyond devs said that “charging, jumping, gliding, and collecting treasure remain vital parts of the experience” along with “the freedom of true dragon flight.”
Spyro: A Realm Beyond is set to launch in spring 2027.
