The general difficulty of Hollow Knight Silksong‘s boss battles scales up fairly quickly, and the Bell Beast will be your first complex challenge to clear.

Located in Mosshome, the Bell Beast has plenty of health, requires multiple hits, and you’ll have to master the ability to dodge. Everything sounds easy, but the actual act of defeating this monster is a challenging task. This guide will note down all the steps and help you ace the challenge.

Hollow Knight Silksong Bell Beast fight explained

The Bell Beast is located to the right of where you enter Mosshome. At first, it’s blocked by a few cobwebs. To clear these cobwebs, you’ll need to unlock the Skillspear ability. This is the first ability that you can get in Hollow Knight Silksong, and it’s essential to progress further (which includes defeating the Bell Beast).

The entire fight with the Bell Beast can be broken down into three key phases.

Phase 1

In the first phase, the Bell Beast has two types of attack. When it appears from the ground, the beast creates a dust cloud. If the dust cloud is small, it will charge at you on the ground. Long-press your jump button to avoid the charge, and you can even land a down attack when in the air.

If the dust cloud is larger and the Bell Beast gives out a battle cry, it will use jumps to body slam you. The safest area during the attack is to be under the boss, and continue to do so until it pauses briefly before going underground. Use this time to get multiple hits in. Once you have chipped away enough health, the second phase begins.

Phase 2

In the second phase, the Bell Beast can throw a couple of bells at you, in either direction. This attack can happen twice in a row, so be prepared. The trick is to stay close to the wall and jump over the bell that’s rolling towards you. If the bell hits, you’ll lose two health.

Phase 3

The final phase makes the Bell Beast go berserk as it uses its cry to make multiple bells fall from the ceiling. Stay to the edge of the arena wall, and use your jump to dodge the few coming your way. While there are no new attacks, you’ll have to dodge plenty of bells falling from the sky. Wait for your turn to land attacks to do damage, as you’ll have to avoid taking damage from the Bell Beast and the bells simultaneously.

Once you avoid the bells and deal enough damage to the Bell Beast, you’ll have defeated another demanding boss.
