What does Craftmetal do in Hollow Knight Silksong

Craftmetal is a unique resource in Hollow Knight Silksong that you can find pretty early in the game and has an essential use.

Unlike more traditional items and consumables, you can’t directly use Craftmetal. Instead, it’s used as a resource to acquire different items. Unlike Rosaries, Craftmetal can be used at only one location to get the items (unless I have yet to discover another place).

If you’re as confused as I was after starting to play Silksong, this guide will clear all your doubts.

Craftmetal becomes a crucial resource when you meet Forge Daughter and want to buy something from her. She’s one of the two merchants in Deep Docks (the other being Shakra). I have marked her location on the screenshot below (the red circle) if you’re lost (you’ll want to find her for reasons apart from Craftmetal, but I won’t give any spoilers).

You’ll find her offering some essential items requiring both Craftmetal and Rosaries. The exact amount varies; you’ll need more Rosaries than the former. However, you should still get Craftmetal before you encounter her to complete the purchase.

The Sting Shard and the Magma Bell require using Craftmetal (and Rosaries) to complete the purchases. Both require one Craftmetal each, in case you’re wondering how many you’ll need.

In my experience, you can get Craftmetal as a loot. However, you can also get one by exchanging your Rosaries to purchase from a trader.

Craftmetal is one of the earliest items to purchase from Pebb, the trader in Bone Bottom. You’ll have to shell out 60 Rosaries to purchase one Craftmetal. I have also marked a location (screenshot above) in The Marrow where you can find a piece of Craftmetal. You’ll come across a destructible wall; break through and follow the tunnel, and you’ll find the elusive item.
