Aniimo Evolution Guide

Aniimo evolutions can be a bit tricky to figure out because the game does not make it immediately obvious when your companions are ready to take that step. Here’s how this works.

How to Evolve Aniimo

To evolve an Aniimo, here’s what you need to do:

Open the Aniimo Management tab from the pause menu.
Find the Aniimo you want to evolve.
Select the circular “evolve” icon next to Level Up & Training, in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Fulfill the Evolution Criteria for evolution.
Gather the Evolution Material cost.
Click “Evolve.”

Aniimo that can evolve have golden double arrows on their portrait. The Aniimo with gray arrows are the ones who have partially reached their Evolution Criteria.

Aniimo Evolution Stages: Lumin (Stage 1) → Gamma (Stage 2) → Nova (Stage 3)

If you don’t see the circular “evolve” icon next to the Level Up button for an Aniimo, it means that Aniimo is already in its final stage. Some Aniimo only have one evolution stage, though that does not make them any weaker than Aniimo with multiple stages. Lunara and Helion are prime examples.

Aniimo Evolution Criteria

Every evolution in Aniimo has some Evolution Criteria you need to meet before it becomes available. This can be simple, like reaching level 12 (Emberpup → Flameruff), or complicated, like Dig in for 20 seconds at the entrance of Sanctum: Twisted Roots (Hummin → Tuckin).

The different types of Evolution Criteria in Aniimo are:

Level Up: Reach the required level up by defeating Aniimo or using level up materials. Level ups are locked behind main story progression.
Time of Day and Weather: Wait for a certain time of day or weather.
Location: Go to the required location in Idyll.
Unique Objectives: Complete a unique objective as shown in the Evolution Criteria screen.
Defeat Alphas or Omegas: Defeat certain Alpha or Omega Aniimo world bosses.
Talent: Unlock a certain character talent. Higher-level talents are locked behind character titles.

Aniimo Evolution Materials

To evolve an Aniimo, you also need Evolution Material, shown under Cost in the evolution menu. Evolution Materials can be obtained by defeating Alpha Aniimo world bosses.

You can check which Alphas in the game drop which Evolution Materials by going to the Pause menu → Institute Guide → Aniimo Challenge → Alpha Challenge Evolution Material.

Defeating Alphas and claiming Evolution Materials costs 30 Primegy currency each time. Primegy restores automatically over time, but can also be purchased directly using Primegy Batteries or Glimmer. The number of Evolution Materials you obtain for each instance increases alongside your Character’s Rank and Badge level.

Aniimo Branching Evolutions

Many Aniimo have branching evolutions, and different evolutions have completely different Evolution Criteria. You can check the differences by selecting the evolution silhouette of different branches in the evolution screen.

Aniimo Regional Forms

Aniimo have different regional forms and variants, corresponding to the locations from where they were captured. You can transform one Aniimo into one of its regional forms (except Prismana) by using an item called the Morph Orb.

You can purchase 10 weekly Morph Orbs from the Glimmer Shop for 300 Glimmer each. You can find this shop by going to the Pause menu → Shop → Item → Glimmer. The only limitation is that the Morph Orb only allows you to transform your Aniimo into regional forms you’ve previously captured.
