Developer Team Cherry has revealed the official patch notes for the very first Hollow Knight: Silksong update, which focuses primarily on bug fixes while also making some slight balance adjustments that will make the early game easier for players. After years of waiting, Hollow Knight: Silksong finally released on September 4, and now the sequel’s very first update is already available in beta, with a full release expected next week.
It’s no surprise that Team Cherry is already attempting to make parts of the game easier, as some players have already been complaining about the overall difficulty of Hollow Knight: Silksong. Shortly after its release last week, players took to social media to critique the double damage dealt by bosses, Hornet’s large hitbox, and more. There’s no denying that Silksong appears to have upped the difficulty when compared to the original Hollow Knight, but some fans pointed out that Hornet is much quicker than Hollow Knight, which should help balance things out.
Hollow Knight: Silksong’s First Update Will Release Next Week
While not everyone agrees that Hollow Knight: Silksong is too difficult, Team Cherry appears to have heard the feedback from players and has confirmed that it will be making some balance adjustments in the game’s very first update. According to the official patch notes, which can be found further down this article, the update will include a “slight” difficulty reduction in two early game bosses: Moorwing and Sister Splinter. The patch also includes plenty of other changes, including one that will see Sandcarvers do less damage to players.
Fans who are eager to check out the very first Hollow Knight: Silksong update can do so now by opting into the public-beta branch on Steam or GOG. According to Team Cherry, the game’s first patch will be released for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC by the middle of next week, but this is an estimate and could slip to a later date if any issues arise. The studio has also said that further fixes are currently in the works, so if fans are facing an issue with something specific that hasn’t been mentioned in the patch notes, it’s likely being worked on for Silksong‘s second update.
One thing many fans are waiting patiently for is an update on the title’s poor translation issues, specifically in Simplified Chinese. While reviews are heavily praising the sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong is receiving negative reviews from Chinese-language users on Steam due to the game’s translation. The majority of reviews for Hollow Knight: Silksong are either “very positive” or “overwhelmingly positive,” but both Japanese and Simplified Chinese reviews are “mixed,” with only 40% of the 36,000 reviews in Simplified Chinese being positive. Thankfully, Team Cherry says it is working on rectifying the problem, with improvements expected in the coming weeks.
