Simple keys in Hollow Knight: Silksong are used to open doors scattered around Pharloom, but they’re few and far between.
As you’re exploring Silksong, you’ve probably come across a few locked doors. Behind these locked doors, you’ll discover new regions full of valuable items and challenging enemies, but you never seem to have the keys to unlock them. To make things worse, you seem to always find locked doors, but never a simple key!
Here’s where to find every simple key in Hollow Knight:Silksong along with where to use them.
Simple key locations in Hollow Knight: Silksong
There are four simple keys in Hollow Knight: Silksong, and they can be found in the following areas:
- Purchased from Pebb for 500 rosaries in Bone Bottom
- Dropped from a Roachkeeper near the top of Sinner’s Road
- Purchased from Jubliana for 650 rosaries at the First Shrine
- On the rightmost bench in Sands of Karak

Pebb in Bone Bottom
Pebb is a vendor who can be found directly to the right of the Bellway Station in Bone Bottom village. You can purchase the simple key from Pebb for 500 rosaries.
Roachkeeper in Sinner’s Road
The simple key in Sinner’s Road is dropped by a Roachkeeper located in the top right corner.
To reach Sinner’s Road, you’ll need to first unlock the Cling Grip ability, which can be found in Shellwood.
After you’ve unlocked wall jumping, make your way to the top of the western tower in Greymoor, where you’ll find a wall that you can climb. Proceed out of the right exit, past the bridge, and through the eastern tower until you end up at an elevator outside. Activate the elevator, which will take you to the left side of Half Home, in case you fall in the platforming section ahead. Climb on top of the elevator and platform your way to the top right section of the area, which will take you to Sinner’s Road.
Continue to the right and out of the exit, but watch out for the sleeping roach hounds. In this next room, if you haven’t already, we recommend unlocking the bench as it’ll be your closest save point to the Roachkeeper. Platform your way to the top of this room and continue to the right. Try your best not to fall as you’ll encounter a few of those sleeping roach hounds, and they’ll be quick to pounce onto you.
As you make it to the first platform, you’ll meet your first Roachkeeper, which is a cloaked enemy with a chain wrapped around its torso along with spikes on its back. We recommend taking them head on to get a feel for what’s to come later, as you’ll need to defeat one to get the simple key and there’s actually another one on the next platform over.
After you deal with or skip the Roachkeepers, continue to the right side of the room and activate the switch on the ceiling to unlock the door. Wall jump your way up and through the spikes until you reach a platform just below the ceiling. After you hit the switch and enter the next room, you’ll encounter another Roachkeeper, but this one will drop the simple key.
Jubliana at the First Shrine
Jubliana is a vendor at the First Shrine, which is located in the top right of the Choral Chambers area. You can purchase the simple key for 750 rosaries.
If Jubliana is not at the First Shrine, you’ll need to complete the “The Wandering Merchant” quest, which can be started on the quest board nearby. Start tracking down her location by heading to the hallway just above the “Choral Chambers” text on the map, and follow her steps until you find her hiding spot.
Bench in Sands of Karak
To reach the Sands of Karak bench, you’ll first need to unlock the Clawline ability, which can be found in The Cauldron in the Underworks region in Act 2.
After you’ve unlocked the harpoon, make your way to the Pinstress in the Blasted Steps, which is west of Shellwood. Use your Clawline ability to grapple to the hanging ring to the left of Pinstress’ house, and zigzag your way to the left, then to the right, and back to the left again, where you’ll find a hole in the ceiling that leads to a cave full of wall jumps and spikes. Utilize all of your movement abilities to progress through the cave and head through the first entryway that you find to enter the Sands of Karak.
Now that you’ve made it to the Sands of Karak, you’ll find these yellow orbs along the path ahead of you. If you hit one, it’ll grow into a winding branch with multiple platforms spread across it. You’ll need to pogo and parkour your way all the way to the right side of the room until you’re able to exit out of the top right section of the room.
From here, you’ll want to continue to the right until you reach the bench. You’ll encounter spiky walls like in the image above and more yellow orbs along your path. Once you find the elevator, make sure to activate it, but don’t get inside. Instead, continue to the right where you’ll find another spiky wall that is hiding the bench behind it.
Once inside, rest on the bench and interact with the body to collect your simple key.
Where to use simple keys in Hollow Knight: Silksong
As there are four simple keys, there are four places to use simple keys across Pharloom:
- Door northwest of Bone Bottom village
- Door in Deep Docks
- Green Prince’s cage in Sinner’s Road
- Rosary room in High Halls

Door northwest of Bone Bottom village
Before starting, you’ll want to grab the Swift Step ability to make your journey a bit easier. Head up to the left side of Mosshome, which can be seen in the image above. You’ll need to either dash or pogo your way to the other side of the gap, stopping on the hanging cages as needed. Head inside the entrance on the left to where you’ll find a huge mole-like creature raining acid spit onto you from above. Make sure to sprint all the way to the opposite end and avoid the acid by hiding under the platforms. Head through the door to find one of the four simple doors.
Door in Deep Docks
To unlock the door in Deep Docks, you will need to unlock the Swift Step ability.
Starting from the Deep Docks Bellway, head to the right to find a bench sign pointing towards a switch on the floor. Hit the switch and drop down to the area below. If this is your first time here, you’ll need to head to the left and ride the elevator down to the floor below. Then, head into the room on your right where you’ll need to defeat a few waves of enemies. After you’ve defeated them, we recommend heading up and resting on the bench before proceeding ahead.
From the room where you defeated the enemy rush, continue ahead to find a pool of lava and a platform that seems to be just out of reach. This is where you’ll need Swift Step as you’ll need to jump and dash onto the platform to find the locked door.
Green Prince’s cage in Sinner’s Road
The Green Prince can be found locked inside a cage in Sinner’s Road. As soon as you enter the first vertical chamber in Sinner’s Road, follow the signs that lead you to the bench, only to spot a green creature locked inside a cage along the way. Glide your way through the winding thorny path to land directly in front of the Green Prince’s cage.
Rosary room in High Halls
After you progress through High Halls in Act 2, you’ll finally make it to a Ventrica room. At the opposite end of the hall, you’ll find a path leading upwards that’ll take you to a locked door with a rosary string sign.
