With One Piece entering its final saga, Oda is finally revealing more lore of this world, especially in the current story arc, Elbaf. Not only did Oda reveal the Harley, but he also threw a lot of focus on the Holy Knights, and even revealed some of Imu’s powers. He also started one of the most incredible flashbacks which revealed Rocks D. Xebec.
Through Xebec, fans have discovered much more about one of the most legendary figures of One Piece, Davy D. Jones, a pirate who lived in the Void Century and whose will still lives on today through Blackbeard, or Davy D. Teach.
Davy D. Jones Was A Legendary Pirate

When watching Long Ring Long Land, not many fans expected the name Davy Jones to hold so much importance in the final saga. After all, many saw that arc as a glorified stopgap, but in truth, it was much more than that. It introduced fans to the Davy Back fight and the legendary pirate himself.
Now, in Elbaf, the truth about Davy Jones has been revealed. His full name is not Davy Jones, but Davy D. Jones, and he lived during the Void Century, 800 years ago, just like Joy Boy. Most of his story remains a mystery, but one thing is for sure: the World Government considers him and his lineage a danger. The reason why remains to be seen, but it is likely because he opposed them long ago.

While Davy D. Jones himself remains a huge mystery, fans have learned that he has direct descendants. Rocks D. Xebec, one of the most legendary pirates to ever sail the Grand Line, was in reality a Davy D., and his real name was Davy D. Xebec.
Xebec died in One Piece, but it doesn’t mean the Davy name died with him. Blackbeard was, after all, revealed to be Xebec’s son, and while he doesn’t carry the name, he is Davy D. Teach, and he will be the one to carry the will of Davy right to the end against the threat of the World Government and Imu.
When the truth about Davy D. Jones is revealed, it might also confirm the secret to Blackbeard’s body and explain how one man can eat more than one Devil Fruit and not die. Jones and Xebec might still be living inside of Blackbeard, somehow.
