Shift Up may not be the biggest fish in the pond, but they had massive success. Reports say that Shift Up had record revenue in 2024, due to the success of their first “large” project – Stellar Blade.
Shift Up was founded all the way back in 20213. Since then, they made three mobile games: “Destiny Child” in 2016, “Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion” in 2021, and the popular gacha game “Goddess of Victory: Nikke” in 2022. But, in 2019, they started their first non-mobile project.
Titled “Project Eve”, it was intended to run on the PC (Windows), Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. In 2021 it was announced that the game would only be playable on PS5, and in 2022 the official name was revealed: Stellar Blade. It was released on April 24, 2024, and was a massive hit. The main character, Eve, became a widely recognizable figure, and Stellar Blade was a best-selling game in North America in April 2024 and has globally sold over one million units by June 2024. But, that was just the beginning.
The Success of Stellar Blade Responsible For Record Revenue For Shit Up in 2024
According to Shift Up’s 2024 financial report, their total revenue for 2024 is ₩219.8 billion (or $151.4 million). That is a 30.4% increase, compared to 2023. They report that Goddess of Victory: Nikke was responsible for ₩153 billion (or $105.4 million) out of that. Stellar Blade added ₩62.8 billion (or $43.2 million) to the total, making 2024 the most profitable year for Shift Up.
Stellar Blade is still a popular game and will be even more so, with the upcoming PC port, scheduled for release somewhere in 2025. Shift Up claim that the PC port will be even better than the console version. They will even try to optimize the game as much as possible to run smoothly on Steam Deck.
The fans are delighted with this news, and you can see comments like “Stellar blade was pretty fun. Good for them“ by Ok-Enthusiasm-255 and “Yeah they have a bright future ahead of them if their first console game was this good,” added NoNefariousness2144 on Reddit.
