The outrageously enjoyable Hades musical orchestral concert, Ballads of the Underworld, is now available to watch in its entirety, online, for free.
You might recall that Hades show being one we wrote about during Eurogamer’s Optimism Week, in an article about our love of game-music performances. You remembered correctly: in that article we mentioned a few shows but the Hades performance was really the spark for it.
In the show, game-maker Supergiant recreated music from the Hades series with a live orchestra – the London Mozart Players – conducted by Hades co-composer Austin Wintory. There was also live singing from Melinoë actor Judy Alice Lee, Erin Yvette (Scylla), and Colin Ryan (Apollo). Supergiant composer Darren Korb and vocalist Ashley Barret also sung their hearts out.

The video is segmented according to a setlist listed in the video’s description. My personal highlights are Moonlight Guide Us at the top of the show (it’s a pity the encore version didn’t make it in; they had another go at it); I am Gonna Claw (Out Your Eyes Then Drown You to Death) at 16.48; Colin Ryan singing Fated Glory at 46.00 (that voice!); and Darren Korb’s incredible falsetto during the final few numbers. Great show, great games, great voices!
Also in Supergiant news, game documentary maker Noclip has released the first episode in its new series focusing on the development of Hades 2. Supergiant itself is currently working out what comes next after Hades 2. Nothing has yet been announced.
